My youngest son is 2 years out. He is not that good, but his age group is looking really good. Just to make State Champs is a hard road to do. Agreed. How are things up North?

I hope Mr. Cole is into stats, because I would like to share a couple...... California Income tax rate at his bracket- 13% Texas Income Tax rate at ANY bracket- ZERO As an Angel slice off $5.2M of that $40M salary. That makes it about $34.8M Just keep that in mind when negotiating. Okay, and now my (non-statistical) take on going to CA 1. Trout though a force of nature is looking more and more like an injury prone player. And as he is getting older, that my guess it will get worse, and will be missing more and more time. 2. Pujols is on the steep decline, and has become a salary albatross hurting the finances of that team. 3. Outside of you, Trout, and Ohtani, this is a team void of outstanding talent. 3. If your interest in your baseball life is to start stacking WS rings, Halo-ville is not the answer

I think he likes where he is and will try to stay if we come up with sometbing similar to Verlander money. Why would Maddon be a selling point to get Cole to go to the Angels?

The article cited "credibility and winning pedigree". I almost spewed Coke Zero on my monitor with that one.

As I think Saint mentioned it before, if Cole goes West it most likely and I agree will be with the Padres. The Angels are a train wreck.

Girardi wants to come back apparently, and old Mark Loretta is a candidate for the LA job too.

Retiring and being with your wife up to 24 hours a day is a lot different than working and being with them 12. We adjusted well, but we know several other retirees where it didn't go so smoothly.

Or they realize that family can get annoying.

Giardi's a good manager. Glad his choices are mostly with NL clubs.

I don't mean my wife and kid(s), personally. Way to clear that up.
My husband and I are planning retirement in about 3 years. I love him with all my heart but I'm thankful he's planning on becoming a fishing guide. It will keep him busy and out of my hair.

Must be nice. There's no telling how much of my generation will even be able to adequately retire. I just keep pumping money into our 401Ks and hoping for the best.

In any case to get back on track, I'm surprised Girardi hasn't been back as a manager sooner.

You are right. It takes a special kind of crazy to accept a managership to the NYY. Success, tradition, and an absolute unforgiving media and fan base makes that (IMO) the toughtest job in baseball. Girardi did a great job of manuvering among the sharks and the side show, and still shield (absorb) the flack to his players. In my lifetime, only he and Torre were able to genuinally pull that off.

She believed the warm water would keep us from getting sick. I have to admit, I never got sick when I showered.
