Boras will do all he can to get teams into a bidding war for Cole.....He will try to get all the big market teams involved......Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Dodgers. So you're saying Boras will do the job he was hired to do?

We should offer Boras part ownership of the team, that should get a deal done. Lol. It wouldn't be worth it. Boris is scum.

That opinion seems to have almost universal consensus. Why is Boras scum?

I don't know if he is scum or not, but he seems annoying to deal with. A lot of players like him as their agent though.

For what it's worth, mlbtraderumors only has us signing Chirinos and a pitcher named Lindblom.
Not exactly encouraging, but not unexpected.
They predict an 8-year $265 million deal for Cole from the Angels.

Homeboy be doing what we all would. I probably wouldn't have worn the Boris cap but people have been making a mountain out of that molehill. It was a bad look compounded by his emphasizing immediately after the game that he was no longer a member of the Astros. Kind of a douchy look there.

We've hated him since he represented Carlos Beltran in 2004 and we lost that bidding war. We tend to hold onto our grudges. When it comes to baseball, I know I do.

Astros fans have had sandy vaginas over Boras for years, because he did his job and got a great contract for his player. For some reason, though, the same fans wank off nightly to visions of that player having a job with this organization.

There's losing bidding wars, which I don't mind losing. Then there are cases where the sleaze meter goes off the scale, as in the case of what Bora$$ did to us.

I know 15 years is a long time, but don't you remember us being basically awarded the Beltran contract if we ponied up a bit more..... then 30 minutes having rug pulled from beneath us? McLane / Hunsicker rightfully black listed his ass for years. I respect honorable agents who do their craft ethically. Then there is the Bora$$ sleaze factor.

Only the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, and Angels are crazy enough to pilfer through that much dough. Gerret, Love your stuff, but you are out of our price range.

Otherwise we'd be seeing these tactics as the norm.

Boras will do all he can to get teams into a bidding war for Cole.....He will try to get all the big market teams involved......Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Dodgers. So you're saying Boras will do the job he was hired to do? I think an agent can do his job for his client and still maintain a code of ethics and have some integrity. Do you think Boras did his job by having Keuchel ask for a ridiculous salary, and, when no offer Boras thought was acceptable was made, kept draggin the process out until Keuchel sat for half a season unemployed because no owner would meet their demands. Then, instead of getting a multi-year deal, Keuchel is again a FA looking for a job......No, Boras didn't do his job. Owners are beginning to wise up to the tactics this scumbag uses to try to get them to overpay for a player and are holding back on making offers to his clients. They negotiate with agents of other players who are more reasonable and less arrogant than Boras. I wish the owners would collude and refuse to deal with Boras at all so maybe some form of common sense could return to what these players are paid........i don't blame a player for wanting to get all he can while he can. I blame owners for continuing to sign players to these ridiculous contracts.......The Mets are still paying Bonilla and he hasn't played for years..........The Angels will owe Pujols long after he is able to play.....Miguel Cabrera's contract has handicapped your Tigers to the point that they can't afford other players needed to compete. Agents like Boras need to be driven out of the business. Boras bas had a few recent failures because owners are beginning to wise up and either stopped making absurd offers or refusing to deal with Boras altogether. No player is worth what the Angels are paying Mike Trout or what Boras will try to get for Cole.

No player is worth what the Angels are paying Mike Trout or what Boras will try to get for Cole. You don't get to decide what any player is worth. The free market makes that decision, after a player has completed his time under team control. You're welcome to have an opinion, but Mike Trout's agent (Craig Landis) has already offered his response to your opinion.

Besides being illegal, it's just plain stupid. No one holds a gun to a GM's head forcing him to sign a bad deal.

I still can't believe he came back to the table and offered more after walking away. That club deserves to lose 100 games

Unless you're Peter Angelos holding a gun to your own head...
It's obvious whose fault that was. I think everyone in baseball expected that contract to go bad ... eventually. But it went bad immediately.
