You can get cole if you back load his contract and guarentee alot of that money.like after verlander and grienke are Fa Yes, but the money in Cole's contract still counts against the luxury tax if I understand it right. You are correct sir. For purposes of making the actual payroll more manageable in 2020-2021 backloading a deal for Cole until after Greinke and JV are gone would be helpful. As far as the luxury tax goes, it doesn’t matter if you back load, front load or middle load the contract. The AAV is what will be used each year to determine whether or not the team pays the luxury tax. |

Cole was extended a qualifying offer, Astros declined 2020 option on Devo but he remains with the club as an arbitration-eligible player, Kent Emanuel added to the 40-man roster, and McCullers reinstated from the 60-day IL. After the addition of Emanuel, the Astros’ 40-man roster stands at 33. They will definitely add Cristian Javier and Enoli Paredes to protect them from the Rule 5 draft. The only other minor leaguer that I could see them possibly adding would be Brandon Bailey. |

I would not mind taking a flier on Wacha. Agreed........i can see Wacha being a good reclamation project for Strom. He made $6.35 million with the Cardinals and should come at a reasonable cost. |

I need to do some research on him. He is still very young and coming off of TJS. He’s coming off TJS and a PED suspension, isn’t he? I knew about the PED suspension but didn't remember the TJS. Maybe he thought the PED's would help him recover faster from the TJS. |
