If they wanted someone like George, they would’ve kept Betts. Not necessarily. Betts IS a $30+ million a year player, and for a long time. Springer would be a reasonable replacement. That being said, I'm sure they intend for Verdugo to be his much more cost-effective replacement. Is there still a salary cap in baseball? LA kept Pollock and acquired Betts and Price. Plus, they gave Muncy a raise. |

Kershaw helps get them to the playoffs and then goes in the tank. They have had good teams with Kershaw and haven't won a WS, largely because he can't get it done in the post-season. |

I don't know but we better be getting somebody ready to replace George because with Betts gone, Boston is going to target George. I'm looking in to it, but I am having trouble finding that number. This signing is important considering we don't have 1st and 2nd round picks in the next two drafts. This signing can be considered an alternative to our 1st or 2nd round pick this year. *EDIT* Just found the number. We have $5,398,300 for 2019. That will help soften the blow of losing the draft picks... |
