I guess Willy Taveras was Robert E. Lee then.

never knew that. I am sure Bortaz will start a campaign to remedy this situation. As for Pedro Leon, one thing I like about signing him is that he is only 22 years old.

Oh, so you don’t like Yuli, you ageist! I didn't say that. I just like the idea that Leon is much younger than Yuli was when we signed him. I am going to petition the Astros to play "Dixie" between innings at MMP

I guess Willy Taveras was Robert E. Lee then. That crap was so annoying also. The % of black baseball players had gotten very low to begin with. Were we supposed to put somebody on the roster just to fulfill some kind of quota?

I guess Willy Taveras was Robert E. Lee then. That crap was so annoying also. The % of black baseball players had gotten very low to begin with. Were we supposed to put somebody on the roster just to fulfill some kind of quota? Some people think we should and thought the Astros were racists when Kemp was traded. You want the best players without paying attention to race. I worked with a basketball coach back in the 80's who made sure he had both blacks and whites on the court at the same time, If we had any Mexicans, he tried to have one of them out there, too. When he was promoted to principal, I became the head basketball coach. One night, he came running down to the bench to ask me if I realized that I had 5 black kids on the court and no whites. I told him that I never counted and played who I wanted on the court at that particular time. He was appalled and thought we'd have white parents complaining..........I never heard one word from anyone and he never pulled that on me again.

So far, Hinch isn’t saying anything that’s breakthrough. He wants the players to basically follow his mea culpa lead in handling the media regarding the scandal. It’s a classy approach. His response to NY media asking about the whistling was questionable because he scoffed at them. He said he was defending his players and addressing the 2019 rumors but not 2017. I thought that was a bit iffy.

More of him throwing himself on the grenade... He is handling this interview with class......He blamed nobody but himself. He realizes he should have taken tbe necessary steps to stop the stuff and he failed to do so. I think he intended to protect the players to a certain extent and to set an example of how to handle the questions the media will throw at them. He will manage again somewhere and I would not be very upset if he managed the Astros again.....I don't think that will happen but it is not out of the question.

It’s looking like the fault is with upper management. Luhnow has looked the worst so far. They should’ve interviewed him instead.

He needs proof. The investigation cleared us of the 2019 season activities.

So it wasn't "player-driven" after all. It was player-expanded.
This is what is concerning. This whole FO has had a streak of poor choices and weak morals. Very disappointing.

This from an article posted on MLBTR a couple hours ago, giving more info on the sign-stealing program by the Astros: “The scheme is said to have been hatched before the 2017 season when the Astros analytical department cooked up a program — deemed “Codebreaker,” if you can believe it — that enabled swift sign deduction. As Diamond puts it, this “laid the groundwork” for the eventual trashcan-banging signaling effort that was utilized by Astros players, coaches, and video room staffers. “Codebreaker” was utilized in 2017 and 2018; it was deployed both in home and road contests.” This is the first I have seen indicating the sign-stealing and can banging was used on the road too. If the info in the MLBTR article concerning the analytics department is true, Crane and Click need to drain the geek squad swamp unceremoniously out onto Crawford street.

Very disappointing indeed. Crane should clean house. Apparently everyone from Luhnow to the guys in the clubhouse were aware of what was going on. A dishonest environment was created in the FO. Obviously there are still employees in the FO who were active participants in the sign-stealing program. Every single one of them needs to go.

There were rumblings about all sorts of things going on in the front office before the sign-stealing scandal came about.

The biggest joke of all is that Kevin Goldstein is still employed by the Astros. How can they try to “clean up their act” when they’ve got the same fool who urged scouts to cheat still on their payroll?

I don’t know how more fans aren’t thoroughly disappointed by this as evidenced by Catfish leaving this forum and offing himself the way he did.

Like I said, I’m not buying his “babe in the woods” act regarding “Codebreaker” and its goings on. Crane has too many Luhnow disciples working there, namely Goldstein. I don’t see why Manfred doesn’t step in and order the firings and request Click to bring on his own chosen staff. You just can’t trust Crane at this point.
