I also get tired of people saying guys are "only playing for the money" when they go for the biggest contract. Wtf turns down extra millions? Cliff Lee turned down more money from NYY to be with the Phillies, and I think Scherzer did the same to Detroit to sign with Washington
I could be wrong about Scherzer though
You're not wrong about Max. During his final year with the Tigers, he was offered $144M for six years. A very hefty offer. He turned it down and many were claiming he wouldn't get a better offer. They were dead wrong. I was sorry to see him go, but business is business. I don't begrudge him for his decision. On his way out, he bought a full-page ad in the Detroit Free Press: |

I don't understand why you think it's ok for the team to fleece the player, but not ok for the player to fleece the team. Come on Bortaz, you know the only fleecing going on is to the fans. The reality is that most people wouldn't attend a game if it wasn't expensive. Usually, the crowd at a game is made up of a quorum of rabid fans, a few people who came on a whim, and business groups. Those few fans who go to games are farrrrrrrrrrr outnumbered by the group of fans who are more content to watch from their couch or listen on the radio. Ticket sales don't pay but a small portion of the salaries of the players and staff. The money is made from the TV deals and merch. |

There are teams who have a plethora of this as we speak who could use a guy like that.
Noah and Lugo for Correa and a couple small prospects??
Not likely but could work and Correa and his honey pot would gett all that attention up north

Then move Bregman to SS and Yuli to 3rd or stay at 1B and make ur run at Rendon

Wearing a Bora$$ hat the day after a WS loss is not considered a diss on the team, which includes the town, and fans that cheered him on? Please explain why. Before what was Game 6, Tom Verducci stuck the mic in Reddick's face and asked about Cole's plans. His response that he was told (assumption Cole) that he wanted to go to CA. Cole then announces about 2 days later that his options are wide open. I really don't want to argue the semantics of what a "lie" is, but these two statements (IMO) are totally contradictory. And FWIW, I never to meant to make Cole out to be a villan. I just hope his agent's council is just as much a disaster as Kuechels. i.e. Bora$$ is the villan, and the happier I am is when his rep is sullied. |
