With the uncertainty about what penalties the Astros might receive hanging over the team and with Crane wanting to avoid the luxury tax, if possible, we may see some of our better prospects making the big league roster sooner than they might have otherwise. I could see Cristian Javier, Enoli Paredes, Whitley, Tyler Ivey and Brandon Bielak all making the big league roster at some point in 2020. I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Marisnick moved this offseason. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Diaz traded this offseason. I’m beginning to think Straw, Tucker, Toro and Stubbs all make the opening day roster in 2020. A lot of what we will want to do or be able to do could depend on the outcome of the investigation.

Drawing this thing out throughout the offseason and that uncertainty is just another way for the other owners, and COB to stick the knife in us. I call for a 24/7 anal probed investigation of all 30 teams NOW. Want this fixed once and fall? Make everyone, and I mean everyone pay.

He's not going to play most of the year. Why pay him $6 million for nothing when there is no guarantee he'll even be effective when he DOES come back? How do you know he wouldn't play most of the year? Because science and sports medicine.

With the way our farm system has been thinned already, I can’t see Luhnow trading away any of our better prospects this offseason while there is a good chance that Manfred will take away draft picks and/or restrict us from international signings as part of the punishment for the sign stealing. Add to that the likelihood that FA’s will be reluctant to sign with us this offseason and Crane already leery of the luxury tax, it would seem to create an opportunity for our better prospects to get the call sooner.

How do you know he wouldn't play most of the year? Because science and sports medicine. What have we heard that would make us assume he would not play most of the season? Nothing was ever said to lead us to that conclusion. In any case, if healthy, he would be a fairly cheap option for the rotation. I certainly don't see the reasoning behind non-tendering Sanchez and offering Biagini a new one-year contract. What did Biagini show them that made them want him? I thought he was useless.

I just hope we sign some non-cheaters. We have enough cheaters already.

If Crane wants to stay in competition for titles while enduring whatever punishment could be handed down, he may have to bite the bullet and not be too concerned with the luxury tax. Priority #1 must be extending Springer.

I'll be very surprised if punishment is handed down before the regular season starts. The Cardinals hacking investigation took 20 months to complete

He had a year in 2016 when he went 15-2 with a 3.00 ERA.....has had some injury problems since. He looked good in his first appearance for us. My thinking is based on what he can do if healthy and that could be a big IF. I think Biagini is a waste.

It has already been released that he won't be healthy to start the year and that he doesn't even have a rehab plan in place for when he IS healthy...if he ever is. I agree somewhat about Biagini, but he did look good for Toronto last year. They must feel he has some upside and it's not he is expensive at this point. With all the holes in our bullpen now, they probably consider him a safety net if nothing else.

Sanchez hasn't had a healthy season since 2016. At this point in his career, it's pretty doubtful that he'll ever be truly healthy again if we're going to be honest. They liked his spin rate and the potential that meant, but his rate stats have been awful for a while now. We still have a contending team with a high payroll, so now is not the time to be throwing $6 million at a mostly ineffective starting pitcher project.

It's looking like Wheeler could top $100 million the way things are going. I bet we're not looking at him for that much.

All jokes aside, he is 27-12 with a 3.73 ERA (116 ERA+) since leaving Houston while averaging 178 innings. I guess Strom didn't fix him either...

We should trade for Mike Fiers. String him up like a pinata. I'll bring the bat to beat him with.
