If they trade Correa, they need a replacement to remain a contender because they still need relief and a catcher. Toro or Tanielu + Bregman could be the answer. Yuli, Diaz and Straw + Bregman could help out until someone earns the role/position. 😬

I don't know why people keep talking about Rendon. No where anywhere has anybody with our FO mentioned Rendon at all. Not at all. We are not going to try for Rendon. It's not even a pipe dream. Not one predicted us being a player in re-signing Cole and we basically finished second.

I am not predicting it, but, I won't be surprised if we sign Rendon.......Nobody expected us to get Verlander or Greinke but they are both here.

So the talk is still Castillo. And the Astros are tryong to clear some cash to get Rendon to play 3B.
They dont believe paying that much money for Cole. They where at 7yrs 250ish but they felt theres no way they go over that.
They are in the process as I said yesterday Carlos Correa, Josh Reddick and a player for Luis Castillo, Tyler Barnhart and a player.
Then use the money that was just saved to make a big offer to Rendon.
Fact: Rendon just purchased two big lots in Mamorial Park. To build his new home on in Houston. FYI Rendon to the Astros has legs. And so does the Wilson Contreras Cubs talk

IF Rendon has purchased those lots in Houston, he should be open to a good offer from us. I can see a trade involving Correa for Castillo working out, but, I doubt if we are avidly trying to trade for Contreras.

Unofficial poll: would you guys rather have Luis Castillo or Willson Contreras in an Astros uniform? Castillo has pretty high walk numbers. Think he'd fit in, in a Strom rotation?

For the record, I'd love to see us get Rendon. I just can't see it happening unless they're lying about not caring about the luxury tax, and/or make trades to free up a good amount of money.

A fall back option could be Nolan Arenando. Rickies listening to offers on him might be sheading alittle salary. Nolan would be a great add if we could throw a contract back. I would for sure offer Whitley in the deal for him

Roark and Lindblom off the table. Things are moving quickly this year.

There'll be minor additions, but wrenching a trade for Kris Bryant instead of taking out the checkbook for Rendon seems more Luhnow's M.O. True, but the trade chips on the farm are dwindling. My hunch is trades won't be for prospects. It'll be straight-up major-leaguer for major-leaguer

I wouldn't be surprised if he re-signed with Washington. Apparently they structured Strasburg's offer so they could afford both
I would be surprised if he signed for less than 6 years
