I'm just pointing out that I wouldn't be against getting a badass catcher in a trade if it didn't look like suitable pitching could be received. I’m just saying that losing Correa outs a whole lot on Toro or Straw. I hope they can handle it since the offense and bullpen play Hot Potato in close games. Don't forget about Diaz.

From what I saw of Díaz last year, he plays a great 2B and an average SS. How would you feel he’d perform as a starter? He looked great before injuries. When he came back, he wasn’t so great.

If we can't get a quality starting pitcher for him. I am fine with dealing him for Contreras. Whoever has more team control would be my target. Castillo can be a FA in 2024.........Contreras in 2023.

A compatent Catcher who can frame and hit has always been the Astros Achillies hill. I would almost be willing to throw Whitley out there for Contrares.
Maybe thats all it would need.
Then see about Correa for some Pitching.
The thought there would be if the Braves Strike out on Donaldson and they cant pull nothing off with any trades else where ship Correa there for some of those stud young SPs

Trade offer: Correa for SS Dansby Swanson, RHP Kyle Wright, RHP Touki Toussaint and LHP Thomas Burrows
In the near future, the Atlanta Braves either will have re-signed Josh Donaldson or will be looking at a glaring hole on the roster.
If it's the latter, they should consider a run at Correa.
Perhaps the Astros actually prefer the power-hitting Austin Riley, but Dansby Swanson is a cheaper replacement for Correa at shortstop. He has improved dramatically as a defender and was having a strong year at the plate before a heel injury halted his progress.
Swanson is a good player, but this trade's primary appeal is pitching.
Atlanta likely wants to keep Ian Anderson, so any other prospect should be on the board for Houston. Wright and Toussaint haven't performed well in previous MLB stints, but they're no older than 24 and have plenty of upside. Burrows reached Triple-A last season and looks like a solid left-handed relief option.
Orchestrating a trade that allows the Braves to keep Anderson and outfielders Christian Pache and Drew Waters seems generous, but the depth of pitching should be enticing for Houston.
That was on bleacher report I would swap Swanson for Riley. And both Toussant and Burrows for Patrick Weigal and Tucker Davidson
So Riley, Wright, Weigel and Davidson for Correa.

Honestly, I believe catching should come after pitching needs. I may be the only one here, but I'm totally cool with going into the beginning of the season with Stubbs as the primary catcher. He's young, athletic, healthy, and cheap. Save the money for now. If he stinks up the joint, make a move for a catcher later in the season if it looks like we're in the hunt. That being said, I would do a Correa for Contreras swap straight up right now. I agree with everything you said.

Rendon to Angels official: 7 years/$245 million. The Washington Post doesn't get much right, but they nailed it predicting Strasburg and Rendon's deals would be identical

Eh, Luhnow is in a tough spot to be able to do much this offseason without trading significant parts of the team. voodoo will be sad to learn that Luhnow supposedly has "assured" Correa that he will remain an Astro......of course, we know how that can play out. I fail to see the logic in keeping him if we can get a good return for him. He has taken all the in-season vacations he needs to take for us. sounds like the Cubs don't want to swap Contreras or Bryant for him

they might as well assure Whitley he'll remain an Astro while they're at it Cubs are trying to cut payroll. They want top end prospects. Same with the Red Sox. Bleacher report post a hypothetical for a trade. Mookie Betts for George Springer and a Prospect. It only saves the Red Sox like 8million. But sounds way outta line on the trade front. I would do the deal if it where me. Betts is way better overall. But will cost a pretty penny. Just like i would ship Whitley for Contrares like Yesterday.

As far as a Mega trade Nolan Arenando he has two garunteed years he can opt out after 2021. So if its me. I use Correa and a prospect or two to nab him.

Arenado is a fantastic defender, top two when you think of Chapman. However, he’s expensive and plays half his games at Coors Field. Red flags ahoy.
