I am getting dangerously close to giving up on Whitley. Some punks just never grow up. I can see him using this Nuke LaLoosh schtick till he is about 30. He probly has fungus on his shower shoes

I hope they DO NOT give him a ST invite this year.
Let Boy Wonder know he is on borrowed time, and can sit in the parking lot with his Porsche and Blapunkt Stereo.

Arenado:
.995 OPS at Coors .799 OPS on the road
There is almost a 130 point difference in SLG alone when he leaves Coors. Now that being said, a .799 OPS with elite defense is still pretty good....but not $30+ million a year good.
Of course DJ LeM sure proved the doubters wrong about offense away from Coors last year...

Cubs are trying to cut payroll. They want top end prospects. Same with the Red Sox. Bleacher report post a hypothetical for a trade. Mookie Betts for George Springer and a Prospect. It only saves the Red Sox like 8million. But sounds way outta line on the trade front. I would do the deal if it where me. Betts is way better overall. But will cost a pretty penny. Just like i would ship Whitley for Contrares like Yesterday. Rockies trying to cut payroll too after giving Wade Davis $50MWho’s the GM of the Rockies, Ed Wade?

I wish we had three LeMahieu’s on our team. Everything is fly ball or bust. That kid hits solid liners. Also, your stats prove my point about Rockies hitters, but with his defense, it makes his gigantic salary more palatable.

A team that cannot afford to keep their ace pitcher also cannot afford to trade for a guy who makes $36m/yr and has his stats padded by Denver, Colorado air.

I haven't followed Whitley as closely as some of you. I can remember when Nolan Ryan scouted him personally and labeled him as "can't miss". Of course, Nolan couldn't predict him being suspended for drug usage or anything else. He has shown little ceoncern for his career or being in a hurry to pitch for the Astros.,If the Cubs will give us Contreras for him, tell him adios and help him pack. Then use Correa to get Luis Castillo.

If Springer just says he is not interested in an extension, and more than likely will re-sign elsewhere...would you be opposed for trading for Charlie Blackmon...he is owed $73M over the next 4 years...Do you think he is better than his away game stats suggest?

I just don’t think they can afford to trade either of those guys, which is why I preferred them spending big bucks on Cole or Rendon. A trade is pricier.

We won't attempt to re-sign Verlander or Cole. McCuller's health and production will determine our position on him.

Of course they could if things go right....Whitley has to get dedicated and live up to potential. I don't understand why James isn't being looked at as a potential member of the rotation if that is not in the plans.

We signed McCullers for one year/$4.1 million to avoid arbitration.
