Now we need some power arms in the pen I am sure they plan on putting McCullers in the rotation, and, I wish they would try to put James in it, too. If Betances is healthy and can be signed for a reasonable amount, he is worth a look. I don't think Rondon is in demand since i have not noticed anyone signing him. They still need to dump Devenski. no way on Rondon...I can see why Cubs fans were glad that he was gone.

Someone always comes along (usually Saint) to tell us how spectacular these shitty players like Rondon were last season, but f that shit. I hope he never steps foot in MMP again.

Rondon was good in 2018 and solid in 2019, but his strikeout rate dropped to garbage. Wasn't worth bringing back unless really cheap. He was certainly better than Devo and Biagini and the like.

Yeah it's definitely been a better offseason for the league this year. I wonder how much this overspending is motivated by the fact that the parties will be negotiating a new CBA shortly. Last offseason there were accusations that the owners were colluding in order to reduce players’ pay. Players were indicating that there may be a strike. The owners may be tossing out more money this offseason in order to soften the players’ stance before entering negotiations on the new CBA. I think it certainly has something to do with it.

I actually minded Biagini more than Rondón. At least he had a period of dominance here. Biagini was crappy for basically all of his appearances and then got hurt. It didn’t leave a good impression.

Wade Miley goes to the Reds for two years/$15 million, club option for 2022 ($9 million).

If the rotation is going to take a big hit, make the bullpen elite.....helps out the unproven starters.

Smith’s 2-year/$8 million deal. I like that deal....but to make him more effective, Astros need to sign some power arms

Smith’s 2-year/$8 million deal. I like that deal....but to make him more effective, Astros need to sign some power arms I agree. Smith is great as a change-of-pace reliever. He needs to be complemented with some high-octane flamethrower. This could be where Betances comes in, but he’s an injury risk.

We have Osuna and Pressly. When right,James has been a great powr arm out of the pen. I want to see him tried in the rotation with McCullers. If Strom can help James improve his control and develop a changeup, he can be a great addition to the rotation.

James was a rotation candidate last season, but they scrapped it because of his quad injury. He can be a decent starter, but I really like him out of the bullpen. He’s just got to get back his velocity from two years ago and seriously get that command of the strike zone. He’s got a ton of potential, but if he can’t throw strikes, he can only go so far.

It doesn't appear that Luhnow is going to sign or trade for a quality starter which means we will have to make do with what we have, and, McCullers and James are both good candidates. I am not sure where Peacock fits in best.

It's good to be a FA this OS. Maybe both sides realized that the slow offseasons the past couple years isn't good for anybody.

Looking at what still available on the market, I'm hoping the Astros sign Betances and Chirinos As far as starting pitching, it is slim pickings. Maybe Julio Teheran, he's good for about a 175 innings...I am hoping 2 years/22M with a 3rd year team option of $15M.... How the market is going, I don't that offer would be sufficient. And see what is going on with Tajuan Walker Fliers - Homer Bailey, Shelby Miller, Adam Conley...these pitchers might be had for next to nothing. middle relief, occasional start pitchers.

If you look at the Diamondbacks outfield, they might be interested in Reddick. I'm sure the Astros will have to absorb a good portion of the 13 million, but any money saved would be a plus.
