(1) IMO- 95% of that record was because of the building of the team that occured while this f'er was on his porch chomping toothpicks. Hard for a team not to be top tier with names like Altuve, Bregaman, Brantley, Tucker, Alvarez, Correa, and Gurriel.
(2) One might also respond the offensive accomplishment occured (plus see No.1) despite Dustbag. And if we invoking stats, seems I read that our staff ranks 9th or 10th of 10 among the post season sect this year. Let's see how this translates once we are not playing an American Leage Central opponent.
(3) Then there is the intangible of what I call the Kerry Wood/Mark Prior factor where Crusty ruins potential HOF'er careers with his idiotic management of pitchers. Of course I haven't been privy to this year's damage. But from my vantage point and watching him 30 years, I am guessing he is too stupid to change his tactics.
(4) And the clubhouse? Yeah, wearing those pro-BLM t-shirts at the Pressers sure didn't go unnoticed.
(5) And last.... if you really want to root for an Astros WS win this year? Maybe it will give him reason to retire. Baker has a history of taking talented teams and choking when it mattered most. The 2003 Bartman Flub Farce is just the most famous of the Baker tradition of tracheal asphyxiation. Before he came here he had a 23-32 post season record despite many times being given the horses ot get the job done. We can't say we weren't warned.
