Montgomery vs. Verlander
Here's hoping for more than 2 runs and another dominant Verlander start! (Going for career win #193.)

Sounds like sour grapes to me. Me too. Or trying to get in their minds.

Someone is upset they lost the World Series two years ago and then didn't even make it last year. Also, his team might have lost it's window to win a championship. Astros, Yankees & Red Sox all have younger & superior teams.

"Like what if you could trade for a player knowing that you could bump his spin rate a couple hundred rpm overnight."
Well duh. The reason why accusations like this start is cause the sportswriters haven't given Strom credit for being the new Dave Duncan

Strom should be making about $10 million a season. He’s doing a great job.

From Rotoworld....
Astros OF prospect Kyle Tucker went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs on Monday for Triple-A Fresno. Two of the hits were doubles, and Tucker also reached via walk. The big game raises Tucker's average to .293 to begin his first full year in Triple-A, and he's getting on-base at a .371 clip as well. The 21-year-old outfielder looks like he's very close to being ready, but it's tough to project an ETA for him because of Houston's depth in the outfield. On way or another, he should be playing everyday in the outfield for Houston at this point next year.

Springer Altuve Correa Gurriel Bregman Gonzalez Gattis McCann Marisnick
Right now that's one of our weaker hitting lineups... Hopefully Verlander is on.

Marisnick starting again, yet rotoworld says there's no place for Tucker in Houston.

Marisnick starting again, yet rotoworld says there's no place for Tucker in Houston. Look at it this way, every poor performance by Marisinick is one poor performance closer to him being potentially replaced.

That's already old news. Been watching it all day. He's actually jealous that he's not with the Astros. At least that's how I read it.

Bauer and his offseason trainer (Kyle Boddy) have been saying this for a while now. I think MLB tried to ignore it as long as possible, but the twitter storm this week sort of made it impossible to ignore further. Boddy was accusing Cole of cheating as early as December 2016, before he became an Astro. So this started out having nothing to do with Strom or the Astros organization. Not sure where the bad blood between Boddy/Bauer and Cole started, or why. Maybe at UCLA. Cole has kept himself pretty dignified in it from what I can tell. I've long thought that pine tar should be permitted for pitchers, just as it is for batters. It would result in fewer HBP and fewer injuries. In the early years of baseball, nobody had a problem with doctoring the ball. It was considered part of the pitcher's art. However I don't think the league should go back to allowing guys to cut, scrape, or fundamentally modify the baseball.

Marisnick starting again, yet rotoworld says there's no place for Tucker in Houston. Look at it this way, every poor performance by Marisinick is one poor performance closer to him being potentially replaced. It's sad that we've been reduced to looking at it that way, but I'm with ya! I hope HInch doesn't stick with Marisnick as long as he did Beltran last year... Tony Kemp has only struck out 13 times in 118 PAs this year in Fresno. He would certainly put the ball in play much more than Marisnick does, and we already saw in spring training that Kemp can make some fantastic plays in the outfield just as Marisnick does. There's very little to lose and lots to gain by swapping Kemp for Marisnick. Kemp's already stole 8 bases this year in comparison with Marisnick's 2, so it's not like the Astros would suffer in that department. Tyler White has only 13 strikeouts over 109 PAs, nearly as good as Kemp has done. And White has knocked 6 HRs and 7 doubles for an OPS of 1.027. Kemp doesn't hit the HR ball but he gets a good number of doubles/triples due to his speed. He's got an OPS this year of .844, which is a good bit higher than his minor league career OPS of .809. The players have had over a month to show what they bring to the 2018 season so it's nearing time to reward those who contribute and demote those who don't.

Strom should be making about $10 million a season. He’s doing a great job. Luhnow and Strom have collectively turned this team around over the last couple of years.
