McCullers vs. Manaea
We won't be able to say this much longer but... as of today, the Astros are the only team in MLB that has not yet allowed 100 earned runs.
Astros offense is now No. 6 in the AL by OPS and with a good week, they could be No. 4.
Also, even after Bregman's 2 errors yesterday, the Astros still lead MLB in fielding percentage.
Oh and of course the Astros lead MLB in ERA by a long shot.
So there's a lot to be happy about. Overall excellent pitching and fielding... and explosive but inconsistent offense is a combination that will win a lot of games. And offensive improvement is on the way it would seem in terms of making some internal moves and maybe a trade by July.

Also leading the league in Run Differential at +77. Boston is 2nd at +67.
When we win, we REALLY win. And when we lose, we generally barely lose.... That's what makes them so frustrating.

Well good news is we can only get better/more consistent offensively and we are still only .5 game back of first.

Has there been any blowback regarding blummers joke about the GP signs “saluting Gary Pettis” when they were actually honoring Piscottis dead mother?

I haven't heard anything. If it didn't make into a story by now it probably won't. Hardly anybody besides Astros fans were watching the Astros vs. A's at that time anyways.

That’s just the sort of thing you expect people to blow out of proportion.

If liberal Californians were watching it might have been a problem.

From Astros.com:
"Gattis' 20.7 percent swing-and-miss percentage entering Monday was the best of his career, but his batting average on balls in play (BABIP) was about 10 points lower (.268) than last year.
"He's put some balls in play that have turned into outs and obviously he's missed a few pitches recently with some strikeouts," Hinch said. "I don't think his hitting and timing has been great. I think his swing is a touch more fundamentally and mechanically sound, but it hasn't resulted in better production. For him to continue to get the DH at-bats, you want some production out of that position.""
Sounds like it's starting to be a problem for the coaches.

That is Hinch speak for, “He sucks and if he wants to keep playing for this team, he best stop sucking very soon.”

Paxton got it! He's definitely kept the Astros to just a few hits in certain games.
Maybe Lance will have his first no-hitter some day soon.
