Have to get this bad taste out of my mouth and move on.
Based on what we know we have, and what holes we need to fill somehow:
Lineup:
1B: Gurriel 2B: Altuve SS: Correa 3B: Bregman C: Maldonado RF: Tucker LF: OPEN CF: OPEN DH: Yordan?
Bench:
Straw Stubbs? Diaz Toro?
Rotation:
Greinke Framber Urquidy McCullers Javier
Bullpen:
Paredes Pressly
Garcia Taylor Scrubb Raley Smith (If he isn't still a p*ssy b*tch.) Osuna?
1. Hopefully we can manage to keep at least one of Brantley or Springer, but I really doubt it. Springer will take a mega contract with the Mets or somebody, and Brantley won't want to spend his last remaining years being booed on the road as an Astro. But, even if we get one of them, we still need a minimum of one FA veteran OFer (I still say take a gamble on Puig), and that's if you think Straw can be an everyday OFer with Stubbs and/or Diaz as 4th/5th OFers.
2. If they don't think Stubbs has a future as a catcher, we need a backup C....not Garneau.
3. I think we need a veteran starting pitcher for depth and/or long relief.
4. We need at least one proven reliever that can handle some pressure situations.
I think they can bounce back and win the division again if everything goes right and some of our guys return to form, but it'll be rough. I really think we're going to have a hard time attracting reasonably-priced FAs right now. We don't have much to trade either, at the moment, unless you're going to at least partially give up on a re-tool/rebuild.

If Yordan can’t play LF or 1B, trade him.

Osuna is dead weight. He probably needs TJS and isn’t amazing enough to bring back. I would heavily pursue Springer and Brantley and see who signs the dotted line. I don’t care about Joe Smith.

The A’s are in the rear view mirror. I think they’ll promote Diekman to closer and lose Hendriks, Semien, and LaStella. Chapman will still be a great defender, but who knows how much after hip surgery.
The threat will be the Angels because the other two teams in the division are rebuilding. All the Angels need is a pitcher or two, and they’re frontrunners. They’ve got Trout, Ohtani, Upton, Rendon, Pujols, and even Fletcher. Adell has a lot of promise too.

Spending is their biggest hurdle. They'll make a big run at Bauer. Do they have any money left? They’re spending big money on Pujols, Upton, Trout, Rendon, and Ohtani already.

Would look into two bullpen arms a SP and OFs. Just to save money. Would differently try and nab Grienkes friend and resign Grienke. If he doesn't resign wait till the dealing and try and fix this team up for the future

If Yordan can’t play LF or 1B, trade him. You don't trade a young guy with a low figure, controllable contract who can put up 35-40 home runs a season and drive in 100 runs. If he can only DH, he is well worth keeping. I think first base is where they should work on him.

If we were trying to trade for more versatile promising prospects, I wouldn’t mind parting with a position-less player, one who has huge peaks and valleys.

Ray is worth going after, but, not for a high dollar, long-term deal. We all know you would strip the team, go with unproven prospects, and brag about saving money. You'd have a team with 100 losses and be the second coming of Drayton MacLane.

They give big contracts to established position players while sacrificing pitching. It has never worked and never will. They will go after some high-priced free agent....count on it.

No, I am advocating for keeping our group of core players together and build around them. The difference in us and the Angels is we don't ignore pitching in order to sign good hitting position players. If we didn't have pitching, it would be the same as what the Angels do.

I think he does, too.. But, they can't piss him off by trying to get him to take a discount after giving Bregman and Altuve their money. Using the excuse of losing money due to the pandemic won't wash. They better open with a bid that matches Jose and Alex.
