I definitely agree, there are times he looks lost. It can be cringe worthy. But I'm crossing my fingers he plays up to his ability/talent level, and then the Astros are in really good shape. Can you imagine the pressure on Straw just taking over for a Stros icon as Springer. No doubt. It is hard on every level from High School to Mlb. Imagine taking the spot of the former World Series MVP.

Humungous amount...and it has shown so far.....it might take a while for him to be comfortable, settle in....He can split time with Chas for the meantime....and Leon may or may not get called up by end of the season.....but Leon should be playing for the Astros sometime next season, so Straw needs to rise to the occasion, or if not, he will have missed the boat....well at least for the Astros....I will not be surprised if he eventually doesn't pull it together.... and be a leadoff hitter for someone, leading the league in SB and Runs....

You are extremely optimistic about Straw. I wish I had seen something to make me share it. LOL

Straw knows the situation that he is running against the clock. Think back at Willy T, he was a player similar to Straw, no power and speed. The Stros milked a few seasons out of him.

Especially if it has no bearing on the division standings. Could be important when it goes down of position in the playoffs for a home or away slot. Would you rather play in Yankee stadium or the Juice box. It all went out the window for me when the Astros blew it against the Nats.

If you take a survey of Stros players where would they want to play in front of a full house, at Nationals Park or Yankee Stadium, I think the answer would be obvious.

I am giving Joe Smith the player of the game. He threw a scoreless inning. Today will be the only time Joe Smith wins this award. Ever!

"He has to stay within himself" and just use what natural ability he has. As I pointed out the other day, that is the most idiotic, meaningless slogan in all of sports. It's worse than Biggio's "It is what it is. You just have to tip your cap."

I don’t know; I’ve been “outside myself” before. The last time was in college. Everclear and Jagermeister were involved, IIRC, which I don’t, so who knows.
