Take Javier out of that and add a mid-level pick and I'd do it. If Lord Strom can’t teach Javier to throw strikes, then I’m fine with trading him. Lord Strom is doing fine with the pitchers. Javier will be fine. I see our great hitting coaches can't seem to get Robel to be the star Dusty wants him to be. |

I did see a trade proposal involving the Astros and Starling Marte that I would do without hesitation. We send OF Ronnie Dawson and P Shawn Dubin to the Marlins and we get Marte. If the Marlins would make the deal, I'd jump on it.

What I seen was the interest in Marte is to take over at CF and use a 4 man rotation in the OF. To keep the legs fresh

addition to looking for bullpen help, the Astros are exploring the center-field market; MLB Network’s Jon Heyman listed them, along with the Phillies and Yankees, as teams that have checked in on the Marlins’ Starlin Marte (the Miami Herald, meanwhile, connected Marte to the Giants).
The Astros also checked on Bryan Reynolds, who is unlikely to be traded. The Twins’ Byron Buxton might be dealt if he does not agree to an extension, but still is not close to returning from his fractured left hand. The Royals’ Michael Taylor would make little sense. The Astros already have a similar player in Myles Straw.

The media in LA is scared to death the Dodgers are going to wait around and let the Astros trade for Scherzer. They think it will be a Dodgers-Astros WS and Scherzer could give us an edge. I wish I knew how serious we are about trading for him and now far we are willing to go to make it happen.
