With a little more than a week to go it seems like the action is slowly starting to heat up. The teams with the best players going up on the market are holding them tight. We really need to add an arm soon, not our major add but an upgrade to our pen. Kimbrel, Rodriguez, and Scherzer, are most likely not moving til late next week. We really need to add our lower leverage arm soon. I sent before: Stratton, Soria and Fry (who was someone else's good idea) I also like Hudson, if the Nats become sellers Hell, we have Pruitt. What else do we need? |

I still feel Marte may be the best deal and I also believe he will sign long term as in 3 years just to be on a winning team at a fair deal.

Let me do a nathan and throw this trade idea out there: We send Whitley, Javier, and either Paredes or two mid-level prospects to the Nationals for Scherzer and Daniel Hudson. Might put Abreu there and take Javier off the table and see if they bite before mentioning Javier.
I am only interested in making deals for pitching help. We don't need to deal for a CF........Straw and McCormick are doing fine.

He steals base and hits for a better Avg. Also has power. You could trade Straw later and keep McCormick. Speaking of that John Hicks Catcher 1B of the Rangers who is hitting fairly well was just designated for Assignment. This is the kind of snag I think the Astros should try and pick up. Would be perfect for a rotational Starter at 1B and C and DH if need be |

I'm pleased (at least according to the news reports) Click is testing the waters at positions other than reliever. Trading for relief pitching is a fool's errand unless it's someone having a great season like Kimbrel Marte makes alot of since. He steals base and hits for a better Avg. Also has power. You could trade Straw later and keep McCormick. Speaking of that John Hicks Catcher 1B of the Rangers who is hitting fairly well was just designated for Assignment. This is the kind of snag I think the Astros should try and pick up. I was told the Yankees and Marlins are talking. Is it wrong that I want Marte only because the Yankees are talking? I honestly don't know why we need Marte. We need pitching.......not outfielders. If they want to give him to us for a couple of mid-level prospects that's fine. But, no way do I give them Straw or McCormick for him. It makes no sense. |

I'd go for Scherzer and Hudson. We don't know what we will get from Urquidy at this point and we can't count on Odorizzi so a deal for Scherzer sounds good to me. |

I can see dealing a Javier or Abreu along with Paredes and Whitley. I don't want to see Leon or Lee moved nor do I want Straw or McCormick gone. Anybody who will take Joe Smith is welcome to him. |
