I feel pretty good about things actually. This team has been hot and cold all season so there was no reason to expect them to not have some of it still. If we're being honest, even Game 2 and the 4-run "explosion" was a lot of luck with some groundballs finding holes and some shaky defense from ATL. This team has not hit well since being in Boston, and that won't hold up.
I know we're all down on Bregman and Correa especially (and Altuve somewhat), but there is no way they'll all remain cold (although Altuve has a good Game 2). I full expect them to show up big tonight, offensively. They didn't get a chance to take BP on the field before the game yesterday, the conditions sucked, and ATL had a flatout dominant pitching performance with some assistance from Hallion on a couple ABs to Tucker and Brantley, specifically.
It's a shame we wasted the efforts of another fantastic day from the bullpen, but we also didn't extend any of the relievers very much so they should be fine to do more if we need to. I feel way better about this 2-1 hole than I did in the ALCS.

After G3, we had just given up 3 slams in 2 games, and the pundits and frankly many of us here pretty much given, up even thinking the series would not return to Houston. This time? Not 3 slams, but being no hit 7 2/3 in the WS by a bush leaguer would normally demoralize a team. Too early to write this team off. It is hallmarked by bursts on and off of offense, and win today puts us back in the drivers seat.

And, I think ZG due for a very strong appearance. If you believe in the law of averages, we're due for a good couple of games.

And also, the nonexistent power will come back. Tucker was just slightly off on a flyouts last night, and Correa barely missed a late inning rip. They're just a bit off and it won't last. That being said, I do think they need to shake the lineup up a bit. Not so much because some guys are struggling more than others, but because I think they just need a spark. Mix things up and give the Braves pitching staff something different to look at. In the end, I don't think it matters that much in how we arrange our top-7 hitters to our top-7 hitters. Just keep our lefties broken up some.

It's hard to blame just one or two ABs for a game, but there were two times that I felt like it probably wasn't going to be our game. Both seem like minor things, but they just felt bad even though we had plenty of time in the game left:
1. Altuve leads off the game with a walk, and then Brantley grounds into the double play. Bregman then immediately walks.
*If Brantley gets a hit, or somehow advances Altuve to 2nd, I think it's a different inning. The pitcher's control was shaky and we had a chance to take advantage of it. Just didn't happen. Instead, we gave him two quick easy outs.
2. Tucker's AB with two runners on early in the game and two outs. I don't remember which inning/AB it was, but it was while the starter was still in. The very first pitch is way off the plate and called a strike. The 2nd pitch is a ball.
*It should have been a 2-0 count in Tucker's favor in a key RBI situation... Instead he's at 1-1 with the pitcher in control. He gets Tucker out.

This is as close to a must-win game as possible without actually being a must-win game.
Lose, and the Astros face elimination and must win three in a row, or they're toast. Win, and the series is tied.
Git 'r dun, boys!

I feel way better about this 2-1 hole than I did in the ALCS. Altuve's problem has not changed.....He insists on trying to pull the ball on every swing. The defense always uses a shift on him because they know he won't try to hit to the opposite field. He should try to take advantage of it.......he doesn't. When Altuve is on first base, use the hit and run since Brantley is a good contact hitter. Bregman seems to not want to swing the bat until he gets two strikes. His power has disappeared. He is a terrible choice to hit in the three spot, but, he will stay there due to Dusty's refusing to make changes. Correa is back to taking too many pitches he should be driving. Yordan was too impatient last night. It appeared he thought it was up to him to hit a home run to get us in the game. No need to mention Maldonado since we know not to expect anything offensively from him. Castro needs to get a start, but, it won't happen. The guys we expect to lead the offense need to wake up and step up. For the most part, they haven't. We are getting much better pitching than we expected, especially without McCullers, and our hitters are doing nothing to support them. It's time to go to work or go home.

One catcher has made an immediate impact on the series while the other has been masquerading as an invaluable presence in the lineup. Castro literally does nothing but watch his counterpart waste AB’s. Castro isn’t a superstar, but he is capable of a good swing here or there. The time is now. Stop playing around.

I can't agree more. Being able to throw out runners is great, but, giving away outs whenever Maldonado comes to the plate is just plain stupid. Dusty has done a good job handling pitching in this series, but, his refusal to make changes in the lineup is hurting us. He won't move Bregman out of the three spot even though it's obvious that it needs to be done. Castro belongs in the lineup. In Atlanta, Dusty is giving them back to back outs by having Maldonado in the game and having to let the pitcher hit.

We need to take a break and appreciate how well an A-baller like García has done as a rookie. It’s mighty impressive. He, Valdez, and Urquidy have all had at least one good post-season start. Luis has had two. Framber put a masterpiece in between two shaky starts. He attacked Red Sox hitters in game 5, but, kept nibbling at the corners against the Braves and it cost him. Greinke gets the start tonight. If we get 3-4 innings, I'll be happy.

The problem was that they waited until there were two outs before letting him run. When he ran, he created a wild throw and ended up at third base. If he had ran before we had two outs, maybe we could have scored him. We have some guys with speed, but, we seldom try to take advantage of it.

However, I'm thinking Dusty was probably saving Chaz for later to be also a defensive replacement in the OF as well.... That was the only thing I could gather

The Braves keep attacking the righties in and the lefties away. They need to adjust. I am convinced if we hadn't had swung at so many bad pitches early last night, we would have easily won. We were getting ourselves out. My thoughts exactly. Our batters showed no patience/plate discipline whatsoever.

Our batters showed no patience/plate discipline whatsoever. It started in the first inning when they didn’t send Altuve with Brantley at the plate. When you don’t get aggressive with noodle arm catching, you give up easy outs.
