I think they messed with his swing too much. They wanted him to be a power hitter... Like I've said, my hunch is no one's tried to coach him. He does what he wants and always hasI don’t think star players get coached that much.

Untrue. I like you. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe. There, there. I can't stand to see a grown frog cry.

The knock against Altuve is he's gotten lazier with his plate approach as he's aged and it's hurting his wOBA I think they messed with his swing too much. They wanted him to be a power hitter... The fact that Altuve was once an all-fields batting champ makes seeing a pull shift defense against him that much sadder.

This is the year we go over the tax threshold. Last year we stayed under. With our World Series window still open I think we go over. Couple that with this being Dusty's last year. Boom. Over we will go.

Oh my, both Carlos Rodon and Jon Gray did NOT receive qualifying offers. Both would be great targets.
The Rockies have got to be the worst run franchise in baseball. They knew he was going to walk in free agency but didn't trade him a the deadline, and now they don't even get a pick when he walks. Absolutely bone-headed beyond belief.

If Verlander accepts the QO do you still sign a frontline starter. I say yes.

Damn straight. We tried the best offense route. We need to load up on great pitching.

I think it's a combination of Altuve THINKING that people want him hitting HRs instead of what he used to do, and the fact that he can't run as well as he used to to beat out dribblers and dinkers just putting balls in play.

I see Mark Canha is going to be a free agent. He seems like he could be a real good fit for us. He has played all three OF spots and 1B (and maybe even an emergency 3B or spot starter), and I don't think he would be too expensive. Over his last 4 seasons as being sort of a super-utility almost full-time starter, he has averaged an .807 OPS (124 OPS+) with a good OBP and decent power. He seems like the kind of guy who would push Siri back to the minors and/or step in on a virtual full-time basis when health issues arise, or if we need to move people around.
I know we feel like we're pretty set with Brantley-Tucker-Chas/Meyers in the OF, Yuli at 1B, and Yordan at DH....but we can be pretty certain that at least one of them will miss substantial time and we don't appear to have a ton of MLB-ready depth after them.

Ronnie Dawson can handle CF enough to be a backup. Leon could break out at any time and be ready. And don't sleep on Norel Gonzalez either (not for CF though). Canha is good enough that you have to play him everyday but not so good that he looks like a real upgrade, so I don't see him doing anything other than blocking Meyers' development while we wait for an injury. I was hoping for Kevin Pillar before the Mets scooped him up prior to this last season, he'd be a really solid 4th OF pickup, legit CF defense, some speed and pop, and nearly league-average with the bat. Our former 1st-round pick Delino DeShields jr. is out there, too. Looked solid in limited MLB playing time this year.

It would all depend on cost though.

Canha would be an excellent bench player. He’d be a less expensive Chris Taylor.

Figured. It was weird how horrible he was, not just a rough patch but basically looking helpless. Hopefully injuries don't torpedo him again next year. Also, looks like JV is doing fine

So the Astros are hot and heavy on high End top of the rotation SP.
They have high intreast in Trevor Story.
Jake Odorizzi is being shopped hard for anything out there.
Astros might be willing to move anyone in the OF except Kyle Tucker.
