Not matter what happens in the negotiations the cap will increase and most likely the penalties will go down. So just say screw it and sign both Story and Bryant for 50 million or so. This will be a first time offense so the penalty will be minor and we will have a butt whupping line up. What the hell it is only money and it aint mine so its all good.

My reply about Senzel was meant to scoff at the idea we'd get him for so little. I'm kind of shocked now to see that everyone is so lukewarm on the idea. Senzel is a 2nd-overall-pick who has always projected to be an elite hitter. COVID, a few injuries, and other weird things blew up some of his development. Last year while healthy he showed a massive improvement to his walk and strikeout rates. He could be a healthy season and/or one adjustment away from becoming a right-handed Michael Brantley who can play multiple positions and has four years of control left. If the Reds would be dumb enough to let him go for someone like Josh James, we should pounce on that like a lion on a gazelle.
