Heard a discussion on talk radio today about what the Astros may add before the deadline. Popular idea was adding an arm for the pen. For some reason, they don't think we need to add a bat. I think we could add both. Offense is more important, but it's still good to add a quality reliever. The two worst relievers in the pen now are Smith and Sipp. While Smith has the higher ERA, his projections going forward are to pitch better than Sipp. Fangraphs estimates an ERA of 4.04 for Smith from here on out, and 4.17 for Sipp. Dropping Sipp for Herrera makes sense at this point as Herrera is really on top of his game, whereas Sipp is struggling to stay relevant to MLB. Also, one way to add Herrera while keeping both Sipp and Smith would be to put a starter on the DL and give McHugh those starts. If the Astros can put the team wRC+ into 115 territory while maintaining the current pitching results, they stand to be one of the greatest teams of the modern era. We're talking .700 winning pct or thereabouts. I'm not sure the Astros can hit that mark, though, if Jake, Marwin, and Gattis are still on the team come September. |

It was pretty funny. After the first two months of the 2016 season, everyone was complaining about something
So Batman created a "safe space" thread, where everyone could go to whine about something without fear of being criticized
Then Lydia saw Ernie posting on it, and she told him to stop whining

Ernie wasn't complaining about the Astros either. He was complaining about Kubiak/Phillips winning a Super Bowl with the Broncos, and not us
