Verlander vs. Samardzija
31-18. Up by 2 games in the division and 2.5 games behind the Red Sox for best overall record. 1st place in run differential at +107. On pace for 102 Wins.
Top-5 WAR Players for the Astros:
1. Verlander 2.8 2. Cole 2.1 3. Correa 2.1 4. Altuve 1.8 5. Springer/Morton 1.5
Interestingly despite his recent struggles, Reddick is sitting on a 1.2 WAR. Bregman is up to 1.1.

Marisnick back because of Reddick’s injury. Sigh.

5 games short of the 1/3 of the season marker it would be interesting to look at the line up and see what might be ahead,
Springer- hitting about like you would expect so he most likely will stay about on this pace for the rest of the year. Bregman - hard luck so far this year but has his ops over 800 now and my guess is that he will be marginally better for the rest of the year. Altuve - He was due for an off year and by off year I mean hitting only 316. My guess is that he picks the power and average up slightly over the rest of the year. Correa - up until 2 weeks ago he was hitting about as you would expect, give him a 10 day break and I would bet he comes back to form and hits around 900 ops for the rest of the way Gurriel- he has hit a very hollow 280 so far and the bone issue in his wrist has a lot to do with that so I expect him to turn it up a bit for the rest of the way Reddick - he started off like a house on fire and has really cooled off of late, he should perform at a higher clip over the next 113 games Gonzales - he has under performed so far, he should hit much better the rest of the way Gattis/dh - he either picks up the pace or his replacement will McCann/Stassi - these guys have done better offensively and defensively than I expected Kemp/Davis - they have done well and it would be a bonus if they continue anywhere close to where they have so far. Fisher/Marisnick/? - they are back in the line now and seeing more action will not only depend on how they do but how others do as well.
So it is easy to see that we have some room for improvement and I believe it will come from the guys we have mostly but I do believe that we will add a bat at the deadline. It is doubtful that all the guys hitting like light weights so far will step up the pace and it is also doubtful that Tucker comes up before September. If that proves out then a trade gets made.

I believe in our guys, but they could use another bat in that lineup. On the safe side, let’s assume Altuve’s power will take a while to come back and that Correa will slump more with that average. If you get that hitter, imagine the possibilities.

Reddick had only played three of the previous 5 games, it was clear something was wrong. WAs he the guy who they thought had a spider bite?

You gave a nice assessment, one thing that hasn't been mentioned, during spring training Jeff's confidence that Stassi can hold his own at this level.

I think I'll watch the away feed since the home team broadcast crew doesn't seem interested in baseball anymore.

I'm surprised White didn't get the call. I guess they want a pure OFer...
Hopefully Tucker keeps hitting and we see him in June.

Agree with Blummer, JV looking to find it, a lot of pitches too much of the plate.

Nobody has killed more innings lately than Correa, whose head is still buried in his ass............He needs a wakeup call....give him a day off or bat him 9th. He is killing them in the cleanup spot
