You guys gotta understand hunter brown will be on the Active roster soon. He has to. He is a rule 5 bound player.
They have to make a appropriate trade to empty a spot or two to atleast get him on the roster or lose him.
Urquidy maton McCormick
Plus if they DL Castro and Brantley
Lots of gears spinning as we speak

Last news was they wanted to move his 16m this year and 16m next year for peanuts and maybe even add Luis Campusano to him to get another OF even with Soto added. Js the Astros are interested in Snell and have been for alittle while. Can Snell play Cf? I bet you Snell can at least throw twice as far as Meyers. |

I somehow understand his logic. It's not like the Nats want Hosmer.... He is a salary dump for the Padres.....If he will not waive his NTC, more reason for the Padres to find a taker for Snell. |

They don't wanna be in the Tax threshold.
Preller has been trying to spin off Hosmer with Campusano didn't work
Same with Myers didn't work
Next up is Snell and Clevinger
They just added 28 million in payroll
This is just the tip of the iceberg
So Hosmer says no Myers says no.
The other two can't say no.
Bite the bullet make a deal add a decent SP and go get ur CF with Urquidy

Just to add to the confusion, here's a Click interview where he repeatedly, almost desperately, talks about how Mancini is great as a pinch hitter, bench player, role player, "whatever role Dusty finds for him" and so forth.  I just hope he can cut down on the K’s. Lmao, hasn't even suited up yet and you're already griping about him. |

Personally I still feel like Click is probably targeting a reliever more than an OF, despite reports. The Astros are great at player evaluation; they have to know there are serious problems in the bullpen and Will Smith is almost certainly not the answer. LOTS of relief options out there. It's hard to imagine we don't pick up another legit arm by the deadline.

Meanwhile I'm less convinced they get another bat. Already got Mancini, maybe Brantley comes back for the playoffs, Yuli has turned things around (.782 OPS over his last 30 games), and Chas has improved himself to where there are few, if any, available players who look like a real upgrade over him. Between reliever and hitter, the former looks like clearly our bigger need IMO.

Chas has accumulated 0.8 WAR in 228 AB this season. So how is Chas better than Taylor “right now.” I'm seeing 1.1 for Chas and 1.4 for Taylor (I prefer Fangraphs' WAR to B-Ref's. So do most people in the industry I've encountered). That's with Taylor having a career year at age 31. Most of the projections have him dropping back to a sub-100 wRC+ once his BAbip comes back to earth. Look at his history; 70's for wRC+ in his last four seasons prior to this one. There's a very real chance that Chas outperforms him the rest of the way. Maybe he keeps it up, but to me he looks, at best, to be very marginal upgrade over Chas, and I don't want to give up prospects for that. |

With Mancini and Yuli, there's really not a spot for them, unless they just say "screw OF defense" and do Mancini LF, Tucker CF, Happ RF. Hard to see that happening. |
