Is the trade deadline 6pm ET? So 1 hour and 45 minutes left? Yes, 5 PM central time.

At this point, I feel management fell short in a couple of areas compared to what the main competition is We've done a lot less than the Yankees and Padres, that's for sure.

At this point, I feel management fell short in a couple of areas compared to what the main competition is I sure don't. 1. Added a solid bat with potential for really good getting him out of Baltimore's giant left field stadium. 2. Added the best catcher we've had since Castro was an AS. 3. Added a veteran lefty reliever with postseason success. 4. Freed up money for next year. 5. Didn't give up any of our top prospects or controllable players. The Yankees added a no-power OFer, a #2 to replace the #2 they're already without, and a reliever to replace one of the two relievers that were already hurt. They basically replaced people they lost during the season and gave up a ton of prospects to do it.

The Padres are going all in for sure. They still have to get past the Dodgers for any of it to matter.

Smith is posting career-lows across the board and has been worth negative WAR. I can't see it as even a slight positive in terms of this season and the post-season run, barring some kind of miracle turnaround out of nowhere for him.

He's only allowing a .288 OBP against lefties this year though. His righty splits are bad, which is the bulk of the problem. If they use him actually for lefties, I think he has value. If they continue to not understand how to work matchups, he won't matter.

Got rid of Odo So Odorizzi leaves with the following production as an Astro: 10-10 (Team was 20-16 in his starts) 4.04 ERA (103 ERA+) 164 IP over two partial seasons. Not great, but not horrible. At least the complaints will end.

If they handle situations right they can still maximize his value.

Phillies just DFA'd Jeurys Familia. TBH I'd rather have him than Smith. If they're not going to make a trade for another legit reliever, maybe try to snatch Familia. His .408 BAbip can't last. Still has the good stuff, misses bats, and get ground balls too.

How stupid are the Cubs if they don't unload Contreras? They shot themselves in the foot it seems. Lmfao I'll never understand how some teams do it. He's an elite catcher. The draft pick you get next year when he walks will not be better than the 2-4 legit prospects you can get for him right now.
