Keuchel vs. Kluber
33-18. Currently 3 games ahead of Seattle for the division and 1.5 games behind Boston for the best overall record. 1st in run differential at +116.
Top-5 WAR players:
1. Verlander 3.1 2. Cole 2.2 3. Correa 2.1 4. Springer 1.9 5. Altuve 1.7
Kluber has been as dominant as any of our guys at home. This will be tough if Keuchel isn't at the top of his game. Hopefully Davis and Kemp are in the lineup. Game plan needs to be to try and work deep counts and get Kluber out of the game with the score close. Be ready to play small ball. Lay down some bunts, move runners, stay out of GIDPs.
One of these days I'll predict a huge day for Altuve and he'll come through, but I don't think today is the day. I think Kluber is going to tear his ass up. Hopefully Bregman, Kemp, and Springer stay hot.

Enough already with the Altuve hate. That guy gives his all day in and day out. His bat will come around.

The key to getting to Kluber is if his breaking ball isn't there. When he has it and painting the corners it could be a long night.

Enough already with the Altuve hate. That guy gives his all day in and day out. His bat will come around. I think I've made it pretty clear that I like Altuve, and nobody has questioned his drive or his hustle that I'm aware of. What I said wasn't meant negatively. Just a point that he isn't hitting real well and Kluber is excellent. That combination doesn't bode well for a good day for Altuve. I hope I'm wrong though.

Enough already with the Altuve hate. That guy gives his all day in and day out. His bat will come around. And just out of curiosity, Altuve gets a pretty small amount of "hate" compared to a lot of our players. Where is your defense of those guys? :-P

Enough already with the Altuve hate. That guy gives his all day in and day out. His bat will come around. When you win an MVP, you get MVP expectations. Besides, Altuve barely gets any hate compared to Marisnick, Gattis, etc.

Enough already with the Altuve hate. That guy gives his all day in and day out. His bat will come around. Pointing out his mistakes does not qualify as "Altuve hate". He needs to wake up and see that he is getting himself out. Right now, he is not doing smart things the plate. We are winning in spite of his lack of production. If it is a repeat of last week, Kluber will make Altuve look foolish when he starts swinging at sliders a foot outside and in the dirt. Time for Jose to pull his head out of his rectum

haters gonna hate He should wait to do his little dance until he starts performing up to his standards. I realize some here think he can do no wrong, but, he's human like the rest of us. Right now, he is in a rut of his own making. He is still the guy who leads the team and is a great player that we are lucky to have for the next several years. I doubt if he's one of the guys who sign a big contract and then start dragging his ass.......that would be Richard Hidalgo and Jose is not a slacker.

There is a difference between voicing concerns or pondering the mediocre results, and wanting a player gone. We just want Altuve back to being Altuve (especially since a significant financial investment was made in him to be the core of our team).

I look at it as all players deserve to be discussed. That's the reason we have a message board. Discuss the positives AND the negatives.
People seem to be too willing to support their favorites and badmouth the role players and/or coaches. It's a team effort and all strengths and weaknesses play a part. Not liking a player is fine, but they deserve credit when they're successful. Liking a player is fine, but their faults deserve mention as well.

No player is perfect. We all have an opinion and should be free to post it. I am a big Altuve fan, but I also see when he is looking bad and right now, he stinks at the plate. He will turn it around.

Springer RF Bregman 3B Altuve 2B Correa SS Gonzalez LF Gurriel 1B Gattis DH Stassi C Kemp CF
Gattis over Davis (who has a .406 OBP this year and has been better against righties than lefties in his brief career)...
Marwin and Springer have had a lot of success against Kluber on the plus side. However Altuve, Bregman, Gattis, Kemp, and Gurriel have not done well against him....

On the Indians side:
Lindor SS Brantley LF Ramirez 3B Encarnacion 1B Cabrera DH Gomes C Kipnis 2B Davis CF Allen RF
Only Ramirez, Gomes, and Cabrera have had a lot of success against Keuchel. Brantley, Edwin, and Kipnis have been pretty poor.

If this is our lineup for today, I have to wonder why Stassi is in the lineup against a tough right-hander like Kluber. Kluber wil strike him out every time he comes to the plate. Did I miss something? Is McCann injured? If not, I can't understand why Stassi is in the lineup

Did I miss something? Is McCann injured? If not, I can't understand why Stassi is in the lineup i think it simply comes down to Hinch's clipboard saying McCann is due for a day off and Gattis is not in consideration to catch. I can't say I really like Hinch's clipboard though. Astros best strategy might be to take a lot of pitches in the early innings and try to wear Kluber down. If they can hold Kluber to 6 innings and score 2 runs off him in that time, they have a good chance to add two more against the bullpen for a total of 4 runs. Keuchel has a decent shot at getting a quality start (as he's done in 6 of his 10 starts so far this year) and if he does that, the Astros have a fighting chance.
