Anybody predicting any surprise upsets?

The Dodgers are insanely good, but they've never not choked aside from the fake 2020 season. Anyone winning the NLCS other than them would be an upset, but everyone other than the Phillies look good enough to possibly pull it off.
Despite everything, the Yankees scored over 800 runs this year. If their offense is clicking, watch out. Pretty much the same with the Blue Jays.
Anything can happen in a three-game series as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see anyone advance to the DS rounds honestly.

Even before the season started, Toronto, I thought, would be the biggest obstacle for the Astros to get to the WS. Their lineup is scary good. And they have three good pitchers and a good closer..... You have that in the playoffs and you're dangerous.

The Braves have to have extremely high confidence.

I would not be surprised to see Atlanta in the WS again this year.

I would not be surprised to see Atlanta in the WS again this year. I wouldn't either. World series: 1.Astros/Braves 2. Astros/Dodgers 3. Blue Jays/Braves 4. Blue Jays/Dodgers After that then it would be some type of combo with Yankees and/or Cardinals.

An interesting stat;
Of the 13 guys who should make the playoff rosters the one with the highest whip is McCullers with a 1.25.

As of right now those two scenarios seem to be the most viable options.
Something though is going on behind the scenes. Not sure what it is but rumor has it that either Click or Baker is gone and perhaps both of them after this season. If anyone has any information on what is going on over there it would be appreciated.

If anyone has any information on what is going on over there it would be appreciated. Writers are assuming if they don't win it all, they'll both be gone and that will be Crane's excuse. When in reality, supposedly Crane doesn't love Click's more restrained style.

As much as I can't stand Baker at times, I think it's colossally dumb for a team that won 106 games to non-tender its manager and GM. I bore that sentiment three years ago and feel the same now

I bore that sentiment three years ago and feel the same now The only reason would be is if there were some big fundamental differences in goals, vision, etc. Maybe there is...

The Click/Baker situation could be nothing more than click-hungry bloggers. Still, having neither under contract fans those flames. I’m not a huge Dusty fan and I don’t know enough about Click behind the scenes to guess about his relationship with Crane or anyone else. So there. I have nothing to contribute.

From what I've heard on some of the local radio shows, the rumors are stemming from the fact that Crane seems to be purposefully avoiding even talking about the issue. He won't even respond to some calls from reporters because I won't even issue a "no comment" comment.

Will Smith will sadly get invited because he's a lefty and has a 1.23 WHIP. The majority of our right handed relief pitchers have better numbers vs left handed batters than does Smith. That said, I will be surprised if he doesn’t make the ALDS roster because…., he is a lefty, you know. It could come down to which team the Astros face in the ALDS. The Jays lineup is loaded heavily with tough right handed batters. Not much in the way of left handed batters. The Mariners have several left handed batters who have done well vs Houston pitchers this year. I could see Smith being left off the ALDS roster vs the Jays, but not vs the Mariners.

We got ourselves a duel in Cleveland. Still scoreless. Any idea who would be tougher on the Yanks (Cle vs. TB)? Would love for the team they would more likely lose to advance. As much as I would love to beat NYY in the ALCS again, them losing in the divisional round would be oh so sweet.

CLE is the team I'm scared of. They play elite defense, steal bases and the back-end of their pen is lethal with a lead. If they can hit enough homers watch out

If they can hit enough homers watch out I would much rather play the Yankees than the Indians because of the reasons you cited plus Francona would outmanage Dusty whereas Boone would not.

Mariners putting it on Toronto early. 3-0.
And honestly, none of these AL teams really scare me. I think we're the best team in the AL. If we lose, it's because our offense went cold and then it wouldn't have mattered who we play.

Comparing the lineups, our lineup is really kind of middle of the pack, imo.
We have two legit top-5 hitters in Yordan and Altuve, two AS-caliber hitters but very streaky in Tucker and Bregman, and then a handful of solid hitters (or worse). Our overall team OPS+ was 111, which is good but not amazing, and that's super driven by Yordan and Altuve having MVP-level offensive seasons. We're very top heavy.
We're going to need guys like Mancini, Meyers, and Pena to really step up and have some productive ABs on top of Bregman and/or Tucker getting hot. Otherwise, it will be a couple leadoff HRs/Doubles by Altuve and some hits from Yordan and we'll be done.
I think we WILL get hot, but you never know.

They traded for him for a reason.

Cardinals absolutely melted down and gave up 6 in the 9th. They’re down 6-2 now.

With runners at first and second in the ninth inning Molina comes to bat representing the tying run….. and strikes out to end the game. Phillies take game one 6-3 after entering the ninth inning trailing 2-0.

A good thing I just thought of. Regardless of who we play, SEA or TOR it is highly likely their top 2 starters won’t be ready to pitch game 1 and game 2. That would only be 3 days rest for both.
