I just didn't have Toronto getting far on my bingo card. 17th in bullpen ERA in September and boy did it rear its head tonight. Hopefully JV will have second thoughts about signing there

Sitting here barely able to watch battling Covid. It has been a miserable few days so far. Already lost 10 pounds I can't eat as my throat hurts too much to swallow anything other than some warm chix broth. Praying for you, for it to be over with quickly!

Hopefully JV will have second thoughts about signing there There are some guys in our pen who look like meltdowns waiting to happen. Stanek especially worries me; the difference between his ERA and xFIP is almost three entire runs. None of our main relievers are bad, but I don't think they're as good as people (and Dusty, most worryingly) believe them to be.

It was blinking for him for pretty much the entire year his ERA was going to rise and it never did. That being said, I probably jinxed the poor bastard by typing this

I think this is going to be a tougher series for the Astros than many think it will be. I’m hoping the Astros offense shows up. The Mariners can definitely upset us. The Jets upset the Patriots in the divisional round of the playoffs a couple years before the butt fumble

100%. We have the better team and should win on paper. However, the Mariners are hot and riding high so I worry a little. We must win both games in Houston to start the series.

It does me. I would love to sign him for one year at a time, not multiple guaranteed years. Then JV would pitch elsewhere. It might be a 3-year deal, plus a fourth year vesting option. It would be great if it was a two-year deal, with a third year vesting option. So here is the deal as I see it. If JV insists on a 3 year deal and we agree to it then we lose two other pitchers. So perhaps you can make a case for the 2021 version of Verlander to be worth the lose of Javier and Urquidy but what if he hits the wall. That happens quickly to folks as you get older. Remember folks Valdez, Javier, Urquidy, and Garcia will all hit arbitration soon. Given their relative performances the costs will go up quickly and there are no more Browns down on the farm. I am a big fan of Verlander. His impact is not just limited to what he does on the mound. His preparation, his attitude, and his professionalism are all a big part of what the team has accomplished. Having said that if he signs a 3 year deal and has another major physical issue then we are hamstrung in so many ways. It may not be popular and is easy to second guess but one year and big money at a time makes the most sense.

Dear Mr. Verlander,
We need you to be lights out in this postseason the way you weren’t in 2019. Please help carry us to the World Series the way Cole did. Please yell at Framber in the dugout when he gets all emo about himself on the mound. Tell Lance not to be fidgety or injured as usual, and yell at the offense to pull its weight for once. If you can do these things, we’ll have a chance, thank you.
Regards,
The Fans

I was hoping the Seattle/Toronto series would go 3 games. Hate to see either team get that extra day of rest. Hopefully it cools Seattle off a bit though.

The key to victory for the Astros will be their ability to play add-on. Seattle does a good job of adding runs where they can even if it isn't a big inning. And they're willing to hit against the shift and just make contact rather than going for the big swing.
If we let them keep adding extra runs on here and there while we wait for a big HR or two, we could have trouble.

I hate to pull against Joe Musgrove; however, I cannot pull for Soto and Machado. Therefore…., lets go Mets!

Looking like the Mets offense is missing in action in this Do or Die Game

^^^ This is what scares me more to have the Houston offense disappear as it does at times. Pitching has been excellent all year with just a couple of mistakes here and there. They lost more games due to the offense than they did to Pitching.

Mets had deGrom and Scherzer pitch in a three-game playoff series and got eliminated. Orioles won a series against us a few weeks ago. There is so much randomness in baseball. There is no easy opponent over such a small sample size. Strap in.

So apparently Musgrove had the highest spin rates he had shown all season last night, but they didn't find any substance on him. Just a great day for him?

Doesn't really matter who the Astros play. They gotta beat 'em all. I hope they don't lose to inferior opponents as they have in the past two WS they've played.

Has either the Astros or Mariners announced their ALDS roster? Honestly the only two teams that concern me and stand in our way of another championship are the Mariners and the Braves.
