When does spring training start? Based on the last 24 hours of this thread, not nearly soon enough. Discussion of our desperate need for a backup backup BACKUP infielder has somehow managed to devolve even further into which comedians are trash.

I can't stand Chevy Chase, but he was funny in Fletch (1985) The Vacation movies are my favorites! I'm weird like that. The only I can think I'm a fan whether he's doing comedy or drama is Michael Keaton

I don't think I've encountered someone who thought Bill Murray wasn't funny in Ghostbusters (1984) Now you know 2 people that didn't think Murray was funny in Ghostbusters. Three. He did have a couple of moments in Caddyshack. And Stripes.

That's what I have you for. I'm your co-captain.... And I'm sure your wife is pretty and all.....But I am not into the polygamy thing.... FTR - Never understood cheating....One woman is enough. My wife also asks me, would you remarry if something happened to her F*CK no....Too much work to get someone to like me and put up with me....Why in the hell would I start all over trying to find the next one? I would be retired from marriage. Cheaper to rent than to buy.

I've got alittle news for ya.
There is a valid reason the Astros are talking about Salvador Perez.
Apparently, there was some hard times trying to get Maldy back with the Astros and may be just a year to year player from here forward.
His age with injurys have hampered him alittle and it took some convincing for him to stay.
Also the Royals want SPs young and ready.
Astros made it clear who is not avaliable. I don't know who they said is not but apparently it's been said as much. Astros also talked about Scott Barlow and a couple guys down in the Royals minor league system. Gentry Loftin and Waters.
Astros are looking to add a CF hopeful some where some how to push this roster forward. There is a clear connection with Dana and Waters and this could be a key grab for him going forward.

If they really wanted Barlow, then the Montero signing makes less sense.

Now you know 2 people that didn't think Murray was funny in Ghostbusters. "Dumb" humor isn't humor to me. And Murray is the dumbest of them all. He's dumber than Jim Carrey. No way is his humor dumber than Jim Carey or Robin Williams either. It seems to me a lot of people have lost their sense of humor since 2016...

Have you ever seen a Bill Murray movie? What is it about him you don’t like? His effort? He is insult to every intelligent person then again most people who watch movies all the time are not that bright to begin with.

I am all ears... just a personal opinion from my observations. I noticed people don't find anyone funny, if they've expressed a political opinion opposed to theirs. They can't separate their talent as comedy actors or actors in general from their politics. I'm opposed to many of the things Jon Voight believes and says but I'm a big fan of his acting.

I think Waters Perez and Barlow would be great adds. Just depends on price. As I said before it's definitely a thought on the upper management

The political craziness started long before 2016. The left for the longest time kept their knives well hidden. They felt that they could nip around the edges and get away with it and quite frankly did get away with it. Gradually it began to come to the fore front and the first real in your face blow was the third debate between Romney and Obama. Candy Crowley attempted to "fact check" Romney about Benghazi. Here instead of being even handed she told Romney that he was wrong in his characterization of the Obama response to this foreign policy blunder and what/when Obama used the word terror. That debate could have propelled Romney to the White House and instead sealed Obama's reelection. Since that point the Republicans have attempted to highlight the biased nature of corporate media and the war has been on. Trump jumped the amperage up to the debate to an unhealthy level in 2016 but the first salvo was fired in 2012. At least that is how I see it.

The far left has been a thing since before there was a United States but it really began to amp up in the 20th century. It hit a higher gear under FDR and his “New Deal” which turned into a raw deal. Then LBJ addicted people to government checks. The fact is that the longer our republic exists the more detached the government has become from the common person and common sense regardless of political affiliation. I believe it was Khrushchev who predicted that the U. S. would fall without a shot fired. Judging from the beliefs and attitudes of young people today and their ignorance of how the world really works he may be proven right.

What is also different this time around is alignment of large corporations with the left. Big government loves big businesses and big businesses loves big government. This is kind of a new age of oligarchs, different from the one in the nineteenth century in that all of the institutional powers seem to be in alignment and slowly moving the masses along.

Socrates and Plato wrote of the tyranny of the majority, and I do not remember the exact phraseology, but in essence, when 50% + 1 determine that they can take from the 50% - 1 and grant that to themselves then their society is doomed to fail. That battle is being fought today and if we allow government education to continue on its current path for much longer then history books will not be kind to these past few generations of Americans.
