I hate to move Pena out of the #2 spot. I’m assuming Brantley starts the season on the IL.I would like to see something like this on opening day: Tucker RF Pena SS Alvarez DH Bregman 3B J. Abreu 1B Dirden LF Hensley 2B Chas CF Maldonado C I know what the arguments against it would be, but I'd bat Hensley leadoff. His calling card is his bat over his glove, and the most notable thing about him at the plate is discipline and drawing walks. Even in ST this year, he's only hitting .242, but look at that .390 OBP. He came up last year and looked unfazed. Heck they even played him in the post-season as a rookie and he posted a decent .333 OBP in that situation. He's not a kid either, turning 27 in a few days. Why not give him the vote of confidence and see if he can run with it? I was just looking over the ST stats for Hensley and Dirden. If my math is correct, Hensley has 44 plate appearances, 15 Ks, 8 BB and 8 H. Dirden has 28 plate appearances, 8 Ks, 5 BB and 9 H. Would you put Dirden in the #1 slot? So far the kid doesn’t seem to be overwhelmed. Dirden Pena Alvarez Bregman J. Abreu Tucker Hensley McCormick Maldonado If that didn’t work, you could switch Hensley and Dirden. On another note…. I have not been impressed with the “competition”for CF between Chas and Meyers. So far it doesn’t look like either of them is going to put the pedal to the metal and take the job. Having both Chas and Meyers on the roster is a waste. When you look at their skill sets they are essentially the same player.

He may not get any better than he is now, buts he more than adequate while he's cheap at least.

Dirden didn’t help his chances of making the OD roster yesterday. 0-3 with 3 Ks. He’s back in the starting lineup today. We will see how he responds to the bad day.

I like Hensley's profile better leadoff; his power isn't tremendous but he gets on base a lot. I'd rather have Dirden, who could end up being a 25 or even 30 HR guy, lower in the lineup.
