Is anyone else concerned that Altuve might be losing it heading into his age 33 season?
Can we trust Yuli at age 39 to rebound?
Keep Maldonado?

Oh, and I broke out a calculator. Since the beginning of 2015 the Astros are 711-483 (59.5%) in the regular season and 56-36 (60.9%) in the playoffs.

He came off arguably the second best offensive season of his career. He's certainly not going to be an MVP again, but I think he's still an all-star caliber player. The question marks are 1B and the OF.

Imo, Altuve will be fine, would like Yuli back and I think Maldonado has 1 year remaining. I could be wrong on Maldonado and I am not a fan at all. But it seems like the pitchers like him.

One would think that Altuve is due to start slowing down in the next year or two. I am curious to see if he returns to using the kind of approach he employed in his early years…, more emphasis on making contact and using the whole field, rather than the pull happy, swing for the fences approach…, once his power stroke starts to wane. I would have no problem with Yuli returning in a backup role next season, but I don’t think we can trust him to put up the kind of numbers he once did over the course of a whole season playing full time. Maldonado is signed through next season. I have no problem with him as a backup and mentor to Lee and/or Y. Diaz, but don’t want to see him as a starter next season.

Did y'all see the story that Click had a deal in place to get Contreras for Urquidy but Crane didn't approve it after Dusty convinced him not to?
It all ended up okay, but we were desperate for extra offense in the postseason and Urquidy barely even pitched...
Says a lot about the dynamics in the FO and why Click/Crane may not be happy with their current relationship.

I don’t know if I like loyalty to players impeding progress.

When the announcement was made recently that Myles Straw had won the Gold Glove for AL center fielder it brought to mind how Corch used to argue that Marisnick was an elite center fielder and Straw was not. So much for that.

Hard to argue with the results this year, but imagine if that story came out after we lost, while our DHs did virtually nothing?

I haven't been able to add anything to the Astros wall in a while. Got a spot ready for this next ring already. If they keep winning titles I'll need a bigger wall!

Player acquisition is not his job. If I were Click I’d be pissed, too. But I find it hard to believe that Click would trade a SP with multiple years of control for a rental.

I don't know, getting a player of that caliber for our worst starter doesn't seem too bad. Turns out we didn't need it, but it wouldn't have bothered me.

I not only find it hard to believe, but I'm calling BS on the story unless someone provides a definitive link. Three and a half years of a solid starting pitcher for a half year of Contreras? I wouldn't do that with a gun pointed at me. That's not a knock on Contreras.

The following players from the Astros MLB Top 30 prospects are eligible for the Rule 5 draft for the first time this season:
#5 - Colin Barber OF #11 - Justin Dirden OF #13 - Jaime Melendez RHP #18 - Misael Tamerez RHP #29 - Zach Daniels OF
The deadline for adding a player to the 40-man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 draft is November 15. Which of these players, if any, do you think the Astros will/should add to the 40-man roster? I would add Misael Tamerez for sure.

Both pitchers might have control issues. Daniels is the lowest ranked, and Astros drafted so many OFs last year. The Astros seem to be crowded with OFs that are going to get a shot before him or right around his time. Can the Astros trade any of these players before the Rule 5 draft?
