The game tonight could be the most watched game in baseball history. The record before this WBC was 54.5 million back in 1980 for the WS.
That record was already broken this WBC with Japan vs. Italy at 62.5 million.
People may not like it, but with numbers like that (plus all the sold out games) it's not going anywhere.

People love the WBC. They just don’t love injuries affecting the league where players make their real money.

Does Bard start out the game and takeout Ohtani? Pearl Harbor Revenge style!

Pfft. I wouldn’t let Bard throw batting practice for my little league team.

Some type of stipulations or adjustments. Injuries in the games could just as easily be had during ST games though.

They need to treat it unlike meaningless exhibition games if they want more players to join.

They need to treat it not like meaningless exhibition if they want more players to join. Who is they? MLB. I assume there’s no incentive to participate in the WBC, is there?

MLB. I assume there’s no incentive to participate in the WBC, is there? Doesn't MLB manage the WBC?

MLB. I assume there’s no incentive to participate in the WBC, is there? Doesn't MLB manage the WBC? Yeah, but I was wondering about the insurance part. There has to be a reason why so many players, namely pitchers, opt out.

Tim Anderson starting at 2B for USA. He has looked pretty shaky there. Tucker not in the lineup. I would rather see Tucker in RF and Betts at 2B.

I'll be curious to see if there continues to be good participation by the USA. I'm hopeful. This year was big for USA with Trout's participation leading to a ton of other position player stars signing on. The more big names that play, and then return to their teammates with good stories and encouragement, the better. We need a really huge pitcher or two to be the Trout for us next time. I'm really disappointed that JV has never done it. Cole and others, too.

Runners doing nothing while hoping for hits is just boring baseball.
