I have mixed feelings about the WBC this year. Normally I'm all for participation in international events like this, but we have guys playing that I hope don't push themselves too hard after a long season last year.
As of now, the following are participating:
Altuve
Pena
Tucker
Framber
Javier
Abreu
Of concern to me are Altuve, Framber, and Javier. Altuve is at a point in his career where a badly pulled hamstring could basically kill his HoF chances. And Framber and Javier threw a lot last year and will likely be expected to throw even more this coming season...

Framber has decided not to play. He's probably smelling that extension and doesn't want to risk a Correa injury.

There's really probably no extra risk of injury, but I won't complain since it can only help Team USA.

I don't like it. Don't care who wins. The only thing I see is an opportunity for players to get hurt or get out of rhythm without their normal team oversight.

Kershaw can't get insurance so won't be playing.
Cabrera couldn't get insurance either but the Tigers said they'll cover it.

I think with USA, the contracts outweigh their pride. Other countries can’t wait to have bragging rights. Also, the pitching is just garbage in comparison with other nations. |

If the USA doesn’t win the WBC, I’m pulling for Venezuela. Lots of guys on that team that I like. Altuve, Miggy, Salvador Perez, Omar Lopez, etc. A good bunch of guys.
