Ash what do you think of Miguel Ullola? Does have a legit shot to make the team in the coming years? Yes, but as a reliever IMO. They're still trying to keep him as a starter but the command is trash and is showing no real improvement so far. He's still 22 so they could give him another year, but they will likely transition him to relief before long so they can develop him for that before he's Rule 5 eligible. He doesn't have quite as filthy of an off-speed pitch as a Bryan Abreu but the heater is very legit and he could probably sit 97-98 and touch 100 out of the pen in one inning stints.

Hopefully we can move him up fast. Move Yainer to 1B 75% of the time and backup catcher for Janek.

Can someone explain why Yainer was so lethal at throwing out runners last season compared to now?

Can someone explain why Yainer was so lethal at throwing out runners last season compared to now? 2024 gyatt vs 2023 gyatt…the extra junk in his trunk is slowing down his Pop time

Can someone explain why Yainer was so lethal at throwing out runners last season compared to now? Unless I'm not looking at the numbers right, I think he was 30% last year and 25% this year. It's not terrible, especially considering he's still young and this is his first year as an everyday catcher at the highest level. But he's definitely not an excellent defensive catcher. Hopefully Janek will arrive quickly and Yainer's bat will stay good enough that you can play him primarily at 1B and feel good about it.

Another team's prospect just graduated from eligibility, and that slid Jacob Melton into MLB.com's Top 100 prospects list.

Pedro Leon was 3-for-4 for Sugar Land.
Hummel had two more walks, boosting his already huge OBP.
Melton is off to a slow start in AAA, but he was 2-for-4 yesterday, and tonight 1-for-4 with an RBI and no strikeouts.
Rafael Montero has pitched in four games for Sugar Land. He's allowed no runs on three hits, no walks, and six strikeouts in four innings. Feels like it's only a matter of times......
Brice Matthews continues a solid stretch in AA. He's struck out too much, but it's come down some of late. The average isn't great but he's walking, stealing, and hitting for decent power. He's not ready yet but he's getting there.
Zach Cole is a no-name prospect drafted late who has some nice tools but some serious swing and miss in his game. Which is what everyone would have said about Shay Whitcomb before this season. Maybe Cole can be the next Whitcomb. He's still striking out but posting a solid .856 OPS despite that in his first look at AA pitching. Power/speed combo is legit if he can reign in the whiffs.

MiLB Player of the Year is Shay Whitcomb. Pitcher of the Year is Ethan Pecko, another out-of-nowhere college arm with mediocre stuff that looks like he's being maximized by the pitching factory.

Penko stunk it up in Asheville ERA was big but a small sample illusion. Massive 13.5 K/9 and a 2.91 xFIP tell a different story.

Despite the poor state of the farm and numerous callups being needed throughout the season, the AAA Sugar Land Space Cowboys have won the PCL Championship! Congrats!

Sugar Land won the AAA Championship game, and it wasn't close, 13-6 over Omaha. Shay Whitcomb was 3-for-5 with 3 RBI, Pedro Leon was 2-for-4 with a walk, and Brice Matthews had a long ball. Whitley, who is not in the Majors for some reason, had a scoreless inning with two punchouts.
