With Diaz, Caratini, and Salazar all being solid-to-good (plus just drafting a 1st round catcher), that would be such a waste. Get a starter (maybe 2). Get a reliever. Maybe add a 1B/LF. I'm probably the only person that feels this way, but I would bring in Keuchel just to see if he could at least eat some innings for a few starts while we see what happens with JV and Garcia. I don't expect much, but he wouldn't cost any prospects (or hardly any money) and maybe we could milk some innings out of him. If he sucks, we haven't lost anything.

Dusty's in the Giants front office now, so Maldonado's next stop is probably field manager there. If he retires

LOL when you can't even stick on the White Sox roster.
But no we wouldn't. Salazar has been a fine backup, and what's his name will be back soon. Not Chirinos. Whoever it is we signed and he was good for like five minutes and then injured so I can't even remember his name. You know.

Maldonaldo was hard to watch at the plate last year and he, apparently fell off the solar system this season. I also agree that if we can get Keauchel it would be worth a shot.

One more thing. Maldonado ended his White Sox tenure with six hits in his last 16 at-bats including three home runs since July started before the team DFA'd him. Even with that being said, the Astros cannot tempt themselves to pursue this.

If you don’t, tomorrow a mishap will happen, and your left nut will be grazed. No permanent damage, but about 15 to 20 secs of level 8 pain….so, are you feeling nutty punk, well are you

Chandler Rome has confirmed the Isaac Paredes interest. It's a really logical fit. I wonder if guys like Pedro Leon and Will Wagner, who have no spot in this franchise and are clearly MLB-ready, would allow us to do a quantity over quality trade. Tampa could immediately slot them into their lineup and hope for a quick turnaround next year. Those two alone would not be enough but they have legitimate value.

Without another two good to great starting pitchers, Peredes, Judge and De La Cruz wouldn’t be enough to get us there.

They're kind of stuck.

We need at least a #3-4 starter and either another similar level starter or a good reliever at minimum.

Yeah but I still think we need one more. Some of these relievers are going to get burnt out or injured. Dubin can go back to the minors...

Astros reportedly interested in Zach Eflin, a Rays starter. Sounds like they just need to make one big trade with Tampa and call it done.
At this point, I'm wondering if they will actually resign Bregman. His performance has been solid, but definitely not the kind that will net him like a 6-7 year contract worth $150 million. He's still a great defender and 3B is a very sparse position, but he's currently sitting at a 108 wRC+ and his walk rate has been almost cut in half. He will likely still be worth around 3.0 WAR which makes him a well-above-average player, but not a star. Considering his history with the team and the fact that he's already made life-changing bonkers money with his current deal, I wonder if he would agree to something like a four year extension.
