Josh Bell was put on waivers. He would be a decent 1b. If The Astros pick him up it will be in a trade so they don’t have to pay the lion’s share of his salary. We are already above the luxury tax. I predict he will clear waivers with his 16 million dollar salary. |

We would not have been able to even come close to matching that return for Paredes. Morel has four years of control left and is a solid hitter, Bigge has the makings of a big time closer, and Johnson is a solid relief prospect as well.
Yandy Diaz or bust (stand pat). I don't really see a better bat option out there that won't cost an arm and a leg.

Since Singleton is somewhat serviceable and seems to be getting better as the season progresses, I think we will pass on Bell. |

Silver lining to losing out on Paredes; Dezenzo is 1-for-4 so far in tonight's game and had three straight three hit games to start his AAA career. OPS with Sugar Land is north of 1.300 at the moment.

I really hope the Astros land Yandy Diaz, and not the Rangers. He is under contract next year for $10M, and club control for $12M in 2026.
Get a #3 grade starter, solid reliever and Yandy Diaz, and then make playoffs and go deep.

I wish I had your positivity Thomas. I want that also, but I just feel we are in store for a let down. Or a crazy overpay for a starter who is mid to help eat innings.

Yeah, I think we'll end up with a starting pitcher but that it will have taken a lot more than we probably should have given up. A postseason run is going to be determined by Tucker and JV coming back and being able to contribute at a high level...not any trade we make, imo.

How in blazes did the Cardinals just get Fedde and Pham for Edman (decent 2B who is injured and has one year of control left) and a low-level prospect? My goodness Dana Brown, where were you on that?
EDIT: I mean in fairness Edman is a good player, but still. Will Wagner will likely outperform him 2-3x over, over the next six years compared to his just one.

Mariners are banking on Julio coming back strong, Robles staying hot, and the rest of their poor-to-mediocre offensive players doing just enough more that their rotation can lead them in to the postseason.
And they might be right if we don't add anything and Tucker/JV don't come back soon.
