Happ can be a tough pitcher, but lots of Astros have had success off him in the past.
I especially like to see White in the lineup vs LHP but with Yuli and Gattis hitting well, it's hard to find White a spot. White is 2 for 2 against Happ in his career.
The OPS+ figure is adjusted for park conditions, and because MMP has been so hard to hit in, it gives a boost to the Astros team OPS+.
The 2017 Astros had a team OPS+ of 127. With one or two good trade acquisitions, and minimizing Marisnick's ABs, the 2018 Astros have a shot at matching that figure.

A possible reason for Carlos Gomez's weird behavior came out today. Apparently, he used to hear "voices in the shower" at a certain hotel in Milwaukee. www.mlb.com/cut4/carlos-martinez-saw-a-ghost-in-pfister-hotel/c-282834454 " Often the first choice among big league teams when they come to town to play the Brewers, the hotel is known for its terrifying history of things that go bump in the night. Clint Hurdle once comforted a Pirates player that was frightened while in the hotel. Ji-Man Choi experienced one of its many paranormal events while trying to sleep. Carlos Gomez heard voices when he got out of the shower"Seriously, why would any MLB team put their players up there if they thought they wouldn't be able to sleep at night?

Good to see Stassi in there against Happ. Good things can happen there; Stassi is hitting .339 against LHP this year with 3 HRs in 56 ABs.
Reddick or Kemp should get the start over Marisnick though. Reddick is hitting a respectable .267 against LHP. Kemp hasn't had many ABs against lefties this year (7 for 19) but he's been so dependable, he deserves a shot too.

Tyler White should be playing not Marisnick. If either Gurriel or Gattis were in a slump, White would be a great choice to replace them in tonight's game. But because the two G's are knocking the ball out of the park, can't bench them tonight. Jake should enter the game around the 7th inning to boost the defense and protect the Astros' lead. Let's see how many rallies Jake kills at the bottom of the lineup today. Kemp has done such a good job turning the lineup over and now... Hinch throws us a curveball with this starting roster.

Tyler White should be playing not Marisnick. Tyler White should be on the way to Fresno and Kyle Tucker in Houston.

The Astros have a .794 team OPS against lefties, second best in the AL to the Yankees' .812.
Happ better channel Walter Johnson or whoever today because he's going to need help. Astros should have this one by a score of 7-1 or thereabouts.

I"d go with Kemp or Reddick.

The Astros have moved into first place in Team Offense as measured by wRC+ at 116. The Yankees are in second place at 114.
I can't recall any other time the Astros have had the #1 offense by wRC+ and the #1 pitching staff by ERA or FIP or ERA+. This could be a first in franchise history.
Maybe this would have occurred at some point in 1998.

Considering the above, Luhnow has to be giving some thought to 'If it ain't broke...'
If he should trade for 2 or 3 players and then the hitting or pitching goes kaplooey, some will look back and say he should have left well enough alone.

The only thing I think we have to add is at least one quality reliever.....preferably a left-hander. We need to part ways with Giles, but, I doubt if that happens even though he is the worst pitcher on this staff.

I can see him making no trades. Bringing Tucker up and leaving all else the same.

it's funny how the players just up from Fresno tend to take the least time in between swings. Tyler White is the quickest to be ready at 18.5 seconds between pitches.
As you'd expect, Marwin is the slow poke of the team, at over 28 seconds. Stassi and Kemp and Federowicz are all under 22.5 seconds. Most of the veterans are around 25-26 seconds.
Looks like the play clock they use in the minors is having the desired effect.

Hinch tells the press that Jake won't improve his hitting on the bench, so he needs playing time in other words.
I can't believe HInch actually believes that though.
If Hinch wants Jake to get playing time, send him to Fresno so he can start every game for the Tacos.
