BTW - PF Changs has sucked lately....any change down in the Valley? Yep...they made some slight changes to their recipes, and essentially made the food taste like shit. We haven’t been in nearly 2 months. I hate it when companies let some fool start tinkering with a good thing, and muff it up.

more often than not salt is what ruins these establishments .. at least that's my opinion RE: Popeyes, Taco Cabana, PF Changs and a couple others I can't think of right now

I have not been in PF Changs in a couple of years. the one I like best is the one in S Denver next to the mountains. they have a lot of glass behind the bar that looks out on the Rockies with a big fireplace close by. Nice.

What Pfc did is change their sauces, and made slight changes to the texture of their meats. And they started adding newfangled sauces to things that didn’t have a sauce (like their pan fried dumplings)

Get to watch them make the sandwich,

outside of the bacon and meatballs, Subway's meat doesn't taste right .. something's not right there. I wish I could order their spinach leaves and vinaigrette on bread and nothing else

My first job out of high school was working at a burger joint. The number one lesson even 45 years later that I learned is that its not a great idea to let teenage strangers prepare your food. (Unless you can watch them make it) Thus my preferences.

Just like in baseball, the best make adjustments based on recent history.

I learned from my friends who worked at fast food places, if you are the argumentative type, you go inside to place your order and stay watching around the counter....i had a girlfriend in college (something you should never have) would get in battles when placing the order at the drive through, I would just tell them at the end - cancel the order...and drive away.

Now that I have retired over 5 years ago, I can share what was my one of my favorite pranks of all time. My particular phone/walkie happened to be on the same frequency of a fast food restuarant that I didn't care for. All I had to say was "Why don't you KMA" on the walkie, and then listen to the fireworks between the customer and order taker. It was hilarious.

The more you know what happens in restaurant kitchens, the more you want to stay home and cook for yourself. Unless you're talking about high-end restaurants, but even then I'm not so sure. One effect of the whole campaign to incite race wars (not just in America -- I see it in Asia too) has been that cooks will often adulterate the food of other-race customers. Even customers who are being polite to the staff and tip well. I eat out about once a month, and even then it amounts to selecting a pre-made sandwich from the case at a Starbucks-like coffee shop. I don't mind, though. Cooking at home saves lots of money every month. I just got back from the grocery store -- got Texas Angus beef from the meat department at Auchan! By not eating out, I can splurge on nice ingredients without feeling guilty.
