Seeing some say that Joke Marisnick has a WAR of 2.4 or something makes me highly dubious of the stat. By comparison, Kiermaier has a WAR of -0.2 based on his Jake-like combination of great defense plus bad offense. However with Jake's offensive surge over the past 30 days, his season wRC+ is now up to 71, whereas for Kiermaier it's 50. Over the past 30 days, Jake has the second-highest wRC+ on the team at 175, second only to Altuve. I had to do a double-take on that one. But it's greatly improved his WAR to follow up two horrible offensive months with one stellar offensive month. Will it be repeatable for Jake? My guess is he splits difference between his May self and his June self going forward. The pitching he faced in June was some of the league's worst. |

Unlike Marisnick, Kiermaier has a hollow batting average even though it’s also low. He’s pretty much the white Byron Buxton - low propensity for base hits while providing super elite defense.
