Verlander vs. Stanek+bullpen I am going to bed early tonight so I can wake up at 3am to shepherd the Astros through this one. I learned my lesson leaving yesterday's game to my fellow Refugees. Just didn't work out. My neighbors will all be up at that time anyway due to the World Cup so whatever. Among the side benefits is that beer is on sale throughout the country due to all the soccer parties. From me to you

Once Stanek has done his thing for 4 or 5 outs, the likely pitcher for Tampa will be Vidal Nuno, followed by Austin Pruitt.
Nuno is considered as one of MLB's luckiest relievers this year. His actual ERA is only 1.56, but his expected ERA based on walks, strikeouts, swings & misses, etc. is 4.70.
He's due for a some hard, hard innings. And wouldn't it be great for the the Astros to provide them.
He's thrown as many as 64 pitches this year, so maybe he lasts 3 to 4 innings after STanek has left the game.
Austin Pruitt will be the next most rested reliever. We may see him for up to 30 pitches. He's pitching true to his expected ERA of about 4.00.

The locals always had a much better grade of Sake than at camp.

The bottom line is the Astros need to string some hits together. Swinging for the fences isn’t easy in that park, and anything hit out there with average speed will be caught by that ridiculous outfield. I’d also like to see more smallball. I actually miss Yuli’s bat more than Correa’s because he has the best looking line drive swing on the team, which comes in handy for Tropicana Field.

I'd like to see a couple big multihit games from some guys. I want to see Tucker....This team needs a jolt with Correa on the shelf, Springer struggling....some new blood might be the answer...

I'd like to see a couple big multihit games from some guys. It seems like it is just BAG right now - Bregman, Altuve and Gattis...oh and Reddick: BRAG.

I wanted to see Tucker when White showed up......and when Reed showed up....and when Perez showed up. I have to wonder why we keep bringing up guys like White and Reed, especially Reed

Look for another low scoring game with the Rays playing the Astros tough.

At least Jethro is not in the limeup again. I won’t miss seeing him. A .153 mlb average with 50 K’s in 131 at bats.

Reed is an uncoordinated klutz who is a strikeout in waiting. A competent first baseman would have picked that throw last night that allowed the Raus to score the runs that won the game. If anybody wants Jethro, trade him.

I approach today's game with a sense of dread rather than excitement that I should have. We're on the road so our offense should start clicking. But it's almost like approaching a torture chamber.

They’ll start hitting on the road again once they get to Arlington. I wouldn’t bet on it happening in this series.

Astros career record in Tampa is 8-13 averaging 2.3 runs per game.
Astros career record in Houston vs. Tampa is 13-17.
Career record 21-30. I hate playing Tampa. They own the Astros.

If JV wants to have a rough spell, let him do it in June/July instead of October. I guess.
