giles hit his spots tonight, good giles showed up. He hit his weak zones on all three pitches. This game ended a lot better than it began.

Yes!!!!! Nice flight back to Houston.
1 1/2 game lead.
Sempersmom you were right about Altuve. That 5th AB produces the winning run with a single.

Reddick and Gurriel are more than welcome to carry the team a while during Springer's and Altuve's slumps

Clutch relief from McHugh. He's gotta be getting some ASG consideration.

Someone mentioned how the Astros seemingly hit all the balls right to TEX fielders.
The Astros' in-game BABIP was .219, whereas for the Rangers it was .385.
Astros did a good job of slaying the BABIP dragon and overcoming some bad luck in the game.

White Sox haven't had a rest day in a while and have been using about 5 relievers a game to help their struggling starters.
Astros have to take advantage while they can.

McHugh was lights out when we had to have it. I agree with txheat.he should be getting lots of consideration for the ASG. There has not been a better reliever on any team than McHugh has been for us. Felt bad for George on his last at bat.....If there is such a thing as a guy being snake bit, it is happening to George. It's almost as if he is being tested. He will come out of it and hopefully beginning tomorrow. Altuve got the hit that led to his scoring the winning run thanks to a horrible pickoff attempt by Martin. Our bullpen was nails in this win. I have to admit that I cringed when I saw Giles coming in to close the game, but, he was outstanding. Got a big win in a game that didn't start out looking too good for us.

I agree Coach. Giles, while cringeworthy for the past year can be a excellent closer. He sure as hell has the stuff when he gets movement on the heat.
As much as I hate to admit it, he and Lidge are so much alike in that when their confidence is shaken, it seems to linger in subsequent games, often into stretches.
Too bad someone can't get into his mind, and work out those kinks.

The snake-bit factor is real for George. But no player ever stays snake-bit forever.
He's batting under .190 over the past 30 days, but if we take out the bad-luck factor on would-be doubles that are a couple feet foul, crazy catches by Kiermaier, etc., his BA over the same period would ordinarily be about .235. Still below what George is capable of, but not nearly as bad as we've seen.
George's SLG of .269 over the past 30 days "ought" to have been .440 according to Statcast, under normal luck conditions. That would put him at an xwOBA of .345, well above the league average and more on a par with how Buster Posey and Charlie Blackmon have hit this year.
As long as George just puts the struggles out of his mind and doesn't press, he will snap out of this pretty quickly.
