Tucker went 2 for 4. Scored 3 runs, including the game winner and stole a base. Looks like he is over his nervousness. I won't be surprised if he hits a home run in his next game. He did look good tonight. I was wrong about not starting him.

Not aMused by the bullpen tonight, esp. Giles (1) I wanna see how Luhnow / Hinch handles Giles if he truly let out a fu comment when pulled. I don't care if it is 2018, you don't pull those stunts in public, and undermine your manager. (2) Can we come to a consensus that Giles is a perpetual choker? (3) Championship teams don't need guys like him. There's a reason he was benched during the WS. How many closers has there happened to? Luhnow.....Trade for Hand ASAP, and relegate Squatty to mop up role. Did you see Giles drop an F bomb on Hinch? I just noticed him looking pissed off. Regardless, it's hard to see Giles keep running out there in spite of the sabermetrics that keep saying he ought to be maintaining an ERA under 2.00. Those sabermetrics don't take into account a player's psychological make-up and I do think Giles, like Carlos Gomez before him, has a couple screws loose. Incidentally, the Astros have made Treinen look pretty bad this series. 6 men reached base against him while only recording 3 outs.

MLB Network announcers almost seem disappointed the Astros won. They expressed tremendous sympathy for Lucroy, who is having a "really tough day" and in their view, got screwed over by the rule that says the catcher must give the runner a lane to the plate. Without this rule, they reason, Lucroy would have tagged Reddick out and changed the complexion of the inning, blah blah blah.
They also aren't sure what was being reviewed but they surmise it was basically to ask NYC what rules apply to such an odd play and are they overlooking anything.

I heard that and got the same impression. Poor Lucroy, blah, blah, blah.......Lucroy fumbled the ball while trying to tag Bregman and then threw the ball away, Lucroy made a bad play so why feel sorry for him?? The guy I felt sorry for tonight was Justin Verlander who worked his ass off and left with a shutout only to see Hinch bring that squatting piece of garbage in to nearly lose the game. I don't blame Rondon for them tying the game and I don't blame McHugh for allowing the home run. The game should never have reached that point and wouldn't have if Giles had never been brought in to pitch. AJ said he heard in the dugout about Giles remark when he was pulled and would try to find out out if it was directed at himl If it was, they would talk about it. If Giles walked off the mound and said "f*** you" Hinch was the only one it could have been directed to. Best thing to do is get rid of him......fans booed him off the field and it will get no better.

He didn't seem bothered by facing Manaea at all.....got the double off him. Showed a lot of maturity in that at bat and when he got the big hit in the 11th. I hope when Cole comes off the bereavement list that White is sent down

How many players would have just politely allowed themselves to be tagged out? I'm guessing over 90%.
Breggie's dance move to avoid the tag, in some sense, won the game.

I have watched this from all angles and still do not understand how the ball just magically slips out of his hand right before he tags him like that. It's as if the Gods intervened. Perhaps Angels in the Outfield

In fact, that's the more likely scenario since he would only be joining the chorus.

I love streaming. I can go to bed in the fifth inning and watch the game at 3AM.

I see it is being pretty widely reported that the "expletive" that Squatty threw at A.J. was legit.
I hope he gets a 3 or 4 game disciplinary suspension.

Yep, I think it is time for Squatty to pee in the cup.

Why wasn't Bregman called out going backwards down the first base line?

This could be the end for Giles. I've supported him when they use him in the situations where he has shown to be productive, but there's no place for disrespect to the manager even if you're mad at yourself. It's a shame we gave up so much to get him.

Why wasn't Bregman called out going backwards down the first base line? Nothing says you can't avoid a tag. You just can't leave the base line.

Bregman is a gamer. There isn’t more you can ask for than constant and consistent effort.

Perhaps Angels in the Outfield That was some Gary Sánchez caliber of defense there by Lucroy. The whiffed tag on Reddick was bad, but the play on Bregman was just comedic.

Giles punching himself was bad enough, but if he did actually curse at Hinch, then he can gtfo. You don’t show up your manager like that in front of the public.

It was in the heat of the moment kind of like how Lucroy didn’t have to tag Bregman. He could’ve just tossed it over to first base.
