They do almost the same exact thing in southern India minus the suffix part. They just use the dad’s first name as the family last name. I am familiar with that. We have a good many doctors in the area who are from India and I know of at least one family of which the children’s last name is the father’s first name. My dad didn’t do that with us because he wanted a smoother transition to the States. We all have the last name of grandpa’s first name.

So what position do we upgrade if we can't deal for a catcher. Castellanos would be an upgrade in LF based on the season he's having. But that would move Tucker or Reddick to a part-time role for the stretch run. Choo would be an upgrade at DH, but dealing with TEX isn't realistic we'd do that
I can't think of another bat that's having a good season. Someone that would make an impact imo Yeah, if they acquire a solid LF, the trio of Kemp, Reddick, and Tucker need to be addressed quickly. Dealing Kemp this year is looking like less sense to me with each passing day. From the available bats on the block to choose, there's a 50/50 shot Tony'd out-produce each of them in the 2nd half. I'm already hesitant to trade him for a reliever. There's such a gap between the impact Realmuto would have down the stretch vs. Merrifield I'm wondering if trading for a bat is worth it. Guys you'd think could have an impact like Abreu are underperforming at the plate this year

If they really want that Realmuto/Merrifield bat, they’ve got to sacrifice something. As slow as Ramos is, a hamstring injury just knocked him out of the running. Could you imagine trading something significant for him a couple days ago?

5 game lead at the break. It's pretty clear where we need to upgrade.
If they don't think Kemp is an everyday OFer, and Tucker, while certainly not a bust, can't be counted on to be the guy this year, they need to get a proven OFer. Doesn't have to be a superstar, but somebody we can plug in with confidence.
I think Merrifield makes the most sense for a number of reasons:
1. Can play OF this year and be all-around good right now. 2. Can replace Marwin in a utility role the next couple of years. 3. Cost effective.
If they have doubts about Stassi and our prospect catchers, we need a clear upgrade there. Depending on Ramos' injury I think he makes the most sense. Realmuto is better and has more years but I think he'll be rightfully too expensive.
We need a shutdown reliever even if Rondon is the new closer.

Latest on the Manny Machado front:
“The Orioles are “going through the medicals/paperwork” in an effort to finalize an agreement with an unknown team, per ESPN.com’s Buster Olney (Twitter link). While the “structure of a deal [is] in place,” Olney also stresses that “this in [sic] not finished yet.”
This is where many a proposed deal involving the Orioles has died.

After the interview I heard with Machado, I doubt if the Red Sox are involved in any discussions. I can see the Oriols trading Machado to the Yankees to spite them. However, my guess is that he goes to an NL team....Brewers seem to be mentioned more often. He ain't coming to Houston.

Well the All-Star game has been played and the Astros active roster remains at 24. They can add a player to replace White now without upsetting Manfred. So what do you think they are going to do by gametime Friday to bring the active roster back to 25 and make do until CC returns:
1) Call up Jake and go with Yuli, Altuve, Bregman, Marwin and Kemp to cover the infield while Springer,Reddick, Tucker, Kemp, Marwin and Jake cover the OF;
2) Call up Davis and go with Yuli, Altuve, Bregman, Davis, Marwin and Kemp to cover the infield while Springer,Reddick,Tucker,Kemp, Jake, Marwin and Davis cover the OF;
3) Bring up a player other than Jake or Davis
4) Make a trade for Abreu
5) Make a trade for Merrifield
6) Make a trade for a player other than Abreu or Merrifield

Has it been confirmed that Correa will not be added right after the All-Star break? Last I saw was a few days ago when Hinch said that Correa wasn’t yet ready for a rehab assignment and that he had no timetable for when Correa might be ready. From Astros.com: “Astros shortstop Carlos Correa will remain in Houston during the All-Star break and continue his rehab from a sore back. Correa, who started at shortstop for the AL in the All-Star Game a year ago, has been on the disabled list since June 26 with lower back soreness. Hinch said Sunday there are no plans yet to get him out on a Minor League rehab assignment. "We still don't have a plan for him," Hinch said. "He's not doing anything aggressively on the field that would warrant a plan in place to send him out. We're going to send him out as soon as we can. It's a slow process right now."

We don't have enough infielders then, gotta bring JD Davis up or make a trade.

Rumors are floating around that Correa has been ordered by the FO to cease fornicating so that his back can heal. Rumor is that the assistant GM in charge of monitoring the Astros Refugees message board alerted the Astros analytics department who alerted Luhnow to the possibility that CC’s sore back/lower back discomfort/suspious unnamed malady may have been brought on by the demands placed on his body by fornicating too much, resulting in the FO coming down hard on Correa.
