Astros get Maldonado? WTF??? Not a bad move to only give a minor league prospect for Maldonado. We keep Stubbs have more prospects to deal for bullpen help and.....hopefully.......another bat. Getting a gold glove catcher, although a weak hitter, for minor league pitcher who was an 11th round pick in 2015 is a good deal. |

Yeah, his love for Stassi is a bit ridiculous. He’s about as consistent as Gattis. He was the same way when he was claiming Joke was some fantastic player, too. Never said that. Saying a guy has value in certain situations is not saying someone is fantastic. |

The more i think about it, Luhnow didn't make an overpay, but still... this is not the type of player I could see improving the Astros this year. Hopefully there will be 2 or 3 more announcements over the next few days. When Luhnow came back with Liriano and Clippard last July 31, the clubhouse went into a tizzy and the W/L record suffered. Maldonado sounds a lot like Clippard to me. |

the guys that I see out there that make sense are Castellanos, Smoak, Choo, and Realmuto. I wonder what kind of package it would take to get each of those guys. Keep in mind it has been reported that the Rangers are willing to eat up to half of his salary to enhance the prospects that they get back for him

Like coach said Maldonado can play defense. maldonado replaces Federowicz which is an upgrade, allows us to keep Stubbs,and provides to fill the gap until McCann is back in September.....if he does come back. My guess is that Luhnow is still after a bat and a reliever. One thing i thought of that probably won't happen.....trade with KC for Moose who comes in to play third base moving Bregman to being full-time SS until Correa comes back. It allows Yuli to stay at first base and should mean we see a lot less of Marwin. When Correa returns, move Bregman back to third, and Moose can serve as DH which is probably an upgrade on Gattis, who seems to have come back to earth after his streak. |

I'm ok with Maldonado his Def is pure and framing is even better. Wish his bat was better.
I would almost have to say the Astros should be looking for the power bat that could help with that decline in hitting at the Catcher spot.
Would not doubt it at all for a OF or 1B/DH type player ...
Still want those Relievers though I see a need for 2 and a Bat. For sure know.
For those who haven't seen there are 3 articles talking about if IF the Nationals dont turn it around Harper to the As or Astros.
I for 1 like the one that says Astros could be waiting on Sean Doolittle to return to try and trade for him as the Closer and Rondon as the set up man.
I would still be looking at Adam Conley
To bad on Realmuto sad face.
O well at least we got a def upgrade.
