People, let’s keep in mind that Harper is both a rental AND not hitting the ball well. I can only imagine the negative brofest it would be with Harper and Bregman as teammates. If there is one team that has most failed on expectations the past 10 years, it is the Nats. Not saying club house leadership and dynamics are why, but that turd is a good example of bad karma.

Interesting note Ken Giles might be on his way out. According to some Rosenthal he has been scouted by a few teams and Astros are open to moving him

Please trade Giles. I’d take a bucket of balls for him but it would be nice if Luhnow could turn him for a prospect or two.

I agree Harper is not a good team mate. He seems spoiled to the fact.
But Sean Doolittle and players like that would be awesome adds for this tame need bullpen they need to shed some Salary for there great run at Retaining Harper, Rondon And Gonzalez. Plus locking down there core group.
So if you can get into talks about Doolittle, Kintzler, Grace and Kelley Or hitters Matt Adam's, Anthony Rendon or even Howie Kendrick. It wouldn't be a bad phone call.
Like I've said I would not even entertain a call about Harper. But the others I would listen

Why do we love trading for catchers from the Angels? First Conger now Maldonado.

Why do we love trading for catchers from the Angels? First Conger now Maldonado. maldonado is a gold glove catcher and a weak hitter......Conger was a pitiful catcher and a worse hitter. No comparison. We gave way too much for Conger, but, we gave practically nothing for Maldonao.

Trades for people like Maldonado are only worrisome in a vacuum. If no other mixes are made, this can be a bad decision...but if hes a filler, and GM fills real needs, then who cares? All hes doing is taking playing time from Fererdghtghdh.

I’d platoon him with Gurriel or use him as a DH.

I’m sure you can release a guy several times, but I’m not sure if he can be traded a lot in the same season.

Maldonado can’t hit a lick, but opposing teams won’t run free on the bases when he is behind the plate.

Sir, did you just defend GM Dragger? Luhnow made a pretty good decision here by getting a very good defensive catcher for practically nothing and kept Stubbs. This will look like an even better deal if he uses prosoects he didn't trade to get a good reliever or two and another bat. I wish he could get either Merrifield or Moustakas from KC....I wish we had both of them. I hope he is working hard to pry Iglesius away from the Reds. And, if he hits the jackpot, he can get rid of Giles in one of the deals.
