I'm thinking they may go after Harper. I'll guarantee you they've at least kicked the tires on him. His atrocious outfield defense would be somewhat mitigated in LF at MMP and I know he's down from a year ago, but I read where his babip is terrible. I just don't know what a few months of him is worth, but I'd bet it starts with Alvarez. Osuna and Harper? We might have the most toxic clubhouse since the Jeff Kent days.

I don't think Harper will be traded, but stranger things have happened. Houston makes the most sense as a trade destination, but obviously I don't know Luhnow's mind on this. Harper's still only 25 and somebody will pay him big in FA after this season, but as an overall package there are better outfielders. I've heard he's a head case, but I haven't followed closely enough to know.

As talented as the AH Harper is, think his attitude negates any benefit.
I sure hope Luhnow won't go "Full" Purpura on us.

Well, after getting Osuna they're obviously not too concerned about the clubhouse.... Maybe they will look at Harper. I actually think the guys in our clubhouse will be a great influence on Osuna and he will be fine. I DO NOT WANT BRYCE HARPER. They could get a guy like Belt much cheaper and Belt is not an asshole as far as I know

I understand the hate for Harper but the Astros need the shot in the Arm.
Something needs to be moved to shock this lineup up alittle.
There Are Bats to just do that.
The Astros could make a play for Murphy and see what it would cost for Harper that would be great.
I get it. But something has to be done. No more 0000000000000000000

Some of our own players condemned Osuna earlier in the year. Now they're teammates. That will be a strain.

Belt at 16m per for 3 more yrs. Giants are not selling.
I wonder if the Astros could shock this lineup and add Marwin to a deal? Or Peacock something like that.
I think Peacock in a deal towards Adam Eaton and Murphy plus add a Reliver hmmmm

You honestly dont think if and I say If Harper gets traded to the Astros he walks in this clubhouse like I'm the best there ever was, the beat there ever is and the best there ever will be with Altuve, Correra, Bregman, Springer, Verlander, Cole etc etc etc etc? Hell no. I bet he would come here and say shit my value would be sky high if I get a WS. Let's win this. I've seen stranger things happen. Sure he may be a knuckle head. But that elusive ring changes evwryone

Who knows? As lifeless as this bunch has seemed lately on offense, maybe they need a jerk to liven things up for a while. Again, I don't think it will happen, but it would be interesting to watch. I guarantee you that I'd rather have Harper than Marwin standing at the plate in the playoffs in a critical situation. The Yankees did a whole lot of winning years a few ago with the most dysfunctional clubhouse you could imagine.

In any case, Nats have already said Harper is off the table.

Good points TH, but based on the money the Steinbrenner's have thrown at this franchise through the years, they should have had at least another half dozen flags.

I think Osuna and Harper would start their tenure with some rah rah, go team go speech at first, but would backslide into the low lifes that they are.

I believe Osuna will be fine.
If you get Harper it's only till the Offseason he wont be back. ALA Beltran
But I would still watch out for a trade for Adam Eaton or Daniel Murphy. See if you can slide Marwin in that deal.
Or maybe Avisail Garcia Derek Dietrich type player.
I wouldnt count out the impossible Harper or even Archer since the Astros are always linked to Archer

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating that we get him. He could be a tumorous growth. I'm saying that the Astros have not had the same magic this year as last; the "feel" is different. I remember thinking in May last year that this bunch could do what no other Astros team had ever done and bring home the trophy, which obviously they did. They seem tired after the long season and the months-long celebration. I'm saying it would be interesting to see how Harper would change the dynamic (for good or bad). It's not like they'd be married to him for the next 7 years. Maybe they need an a**hole in the clubhouse just to galvanize the rest of them against him. It would be interesting to see, but it's just idle speculation. The odds are probably 1:1,000.

I will say this: I'd bet Luhnow comes up with another outfielder by 3 p.m.

But every single sports writer says it's a hoax to drive up his price. Indians came in with a low end price Nats were not happy

I had rather go after Brandon Belt. I have a feeling Luhnow is going to spring a surprise on us this afternoon.

Indians came in with a low end price Nats were not happy Astros should be in contention next year...Astros are not trading away their top prospects for a rental..for good prospects player will at least team controlled through end of next season....2 month rentals will be more for mid level or blocked prospects

Agree. But Nationals think he is Platinum and since atleast 2 teams have told them different there like well we will keep him. Ugh.
I would still aim for Daniel Murphy and Adam Eaton if they wanna play that game.
Both those players would improve this club ten fold. And Marwin would have to be apart of any deal like that. Which would make the fans and club go no way he is the best player ever. Harper syndrome lmao

I would not be against trading for Cutch, if the Giants were mainly looking to dump his remaining 2018 contract..and maybe for worse than a top 15 rated prospect.
