Tucker getting owned in MLB. I'd rather he fall on his face and let Luhnow know he needs to make a trade, than come roaring out the gates only to falter down the stretch.

Seattle tied. I'd be pretty pleased overall to go into the all star break with a 5 game lead. If we get Correa back we should be in good shape. Especially if we go sign a reliever and some type of bat.
A lot or guys look burnt out.

Assuming that we go on to lose this game which seems to be a safe assumption at this point then our record at the break will be 64-35. This is how that record breaks down
Of the 99 games 55 of them were played against teams that currently have a winning record. Our record in those games is 30-25 for a win % of 54.5% Of the 99 games 44 of them were played against teams that currently have a losing record. Our record in those games is 34-10 for a win % of 77.3% Of the 63 games left to play we are scheduled to play teams with a winning record in 43 of those games Applying the same win % of these games that we experienced in the first "half" of the season and we will project to win 23.45 games Applying the same win % of these games that we experienced in the first "half" of the season and we will project to win 15.46 games
So right now we project to finish the year at 103-59. Our best record ever but somehow it just does not seem that it will be enough. Luhnow needs to add to the MLB talent.
One final note on this is that it is odd that we will play 98 of our games against teams that currently have a winning record.

Luhnow knows what he needs to do, now he just has to negotiate the deals and sign the paperwork.

I inverted some numbers so I fixed them, the results project one less win. 102-60 projected record

Y’all remember that Verlander being good throughout the first half is more of an anomaly than the last couple of bad starts he had.

Corch got to AJ and had White sent down. The Coaching Alumni/Fraternity is strong. Now that Hinch has a WS ring, Corch does not make him kiss his ring (the bi-district junior high 1957 softball championship)

All told, there were 7 Astros hitters who finished the first half of the season (pre-ASB) with an OPS below the league average of around .729.
Those are:
Tucker - .434 Fedo - .536 Davis - .587 Jake - .595 McCann - .606 Fisher - .641 Marwin - .653
Those are the guys who need to either have significantly better second halves, or play out the season in Fresno, or get traded.
Tucker probably takes around 6 weeks of everyday play to become a solid contributor. He should be off that list by September.
Fedo and McCann should probably be replaced by Ramos or Stubbs.
Fisher and Jake should be kept as reserves in Fresno and take turns helping out the Astros as pinch runners.
Davis should stay at Fresno as a DH/1B reserve in case there's an injury.
Marwin should be traded. Castellanos or Merrifield would be good upgrades.
In case Gattis loses the plot again in the second half, White can probably maintain an OPS north of .800 as DH. While there are DH candidates available in trade, they would be much more expensive than White.

Corch got to AJ and had White sent down. So while everyone else on the team is on a break, White has to keep working. I like it!

Corch got to AJ and had White sent down. has he been sent down? Didn't hear it at the game. If White was sent out, that is the only good thing that happened down there today. I asked for a meeting with Hinch and Luhnow but didn't have a time available.

I like Tucker and all, but he deserves to be sent down more than Kemp at this point. He maybe should’ve been sent down more than White. Correa going down means we need all the infield help we can get.

Thanks for letting me know..........adds at least a bright spot on a day when they didn't hit and Verlander was off his game. Best I can recall, Verlander is always better after the All Star break. If that holds, lots of teams will be unhappy. Who did they activate when they sent White down?

If not Davis being brought up, maybe they have a trade worked out that they don’t want to announce until after the All Star game?

WE WANT JAKE!! WE WANT JAKE!! Whachu mean “we” white man? "WE" refers to those of us who recognize the great defensive ability and speed of Jake Marisnick and what he does for this team on defense and with his speed as a pinch runner. White provides neither and his bat is not good enough to make up for what he lacks defensively.

I'd rather he fall on his face and let Luhnow know he needs to make a trade, than come roaring out the gates only to falter down the stretch. I don’t like his swing. And he needs to eat more food. Interesting that Hinch didn’t have Tucker in the starting lineup for this game. Tucker has hit lefties just as well as righties at AAA and since he has been called up. One would think that Luhnow and Hinch would want him in the lineup every day so that they can see if he can be the bat the team needs for the remainder of the season before the non-waiver trade deadline. Maybe the fact that he wasn’t in the lineup is an indication that they have already seen enough and have decided he is not going to be the bat we need this year. Interesting that they have announced that White is going to be sent down, but they won’t announce his replacement until after the All Star break. One reason for this could be that they have a trade in place for a player from another team who represents that team’s only AS game representative and they don’t want to muddy the whole “every team must have at least one player in the AS game” thing. Just a thought.

Just a thought. That last game was one of the most pathetic offensive performances by the Astros all season, with only 4 hits. I'd have thought Marwin was the weakest link in the chain, but as it turned out he got half those hits. I'd like to see Tucker get 6 weeks of regular playing time before they decide if he sticks with the team through the postseason. A lot of rookies take about that long to adjust to major league pitching. White getting sent down with a .813 OPS is a lot different from sending down Davis, Reed, and Fisher -- all of whom had OPS's way down in 500-600 territory. The team OPS stands at .768, so you hate to send down guys who are actually pulling up the team's overall batting. I think there's a lot of likelihood to your speculation that some team is acquiring White but wants to wait till after the ASB to announce the deal. If the Astros are getting an All Star, so much the better. This also gives White a chance to play in Fresno's games this week.
