You aren't interested in the guidelines, and your moderating style has much more to do with your personal whims/agenda than with the guidelines. Ben Franklin spent much of his life outside the USA too. Sometimes if you want to effect positive change, it's more feasible to do it from the outside. Franklin certainly got that, but I suppose that would be difficult for you to grasp with all that fecal matter between your ears. [br You are making this to big of a deal man. Note to all: As everyone's feelings are a bit hurt today, I won't respond to any of the personal attacks, etc. that are being thrown around. This is a good community that we've worked hard to maintain, and I hope we keep all 51 members we currently have (and add more). However...I told all of you from the beginning that I didn't have any interest in moderating/managing this forum. If someone else wants it, I can have the password (and all the responsibility) in your inbox quicker than Giles can blow a 4 run lead in the bottom of the 9th. Just let me know. You are the right man for the job Bortaz. You have already shown more patience and restraint than I would have. As far as the ProBoards policy goes, you did not make the policy. You are the messenger. You are also the board administrator and as such, you are responsible for making sure we all know the ProBoard rules. You have informed us concerning these rules. Now that we have been made aware of these rules, it is up to all of us to behave like adults and follow the rules. I intend to do that. My post about 'casting first stones' referred to *unprovoked* attacks on fellow fans. Indeed, I've never made one on this forum, or the old one. The passages you quote above were in response to Bortaz's unprovoked attacks on me for posts I made and which he subsequently deleted. Posts which were, incidentally, not in violation of Proboards rules, but which simply didn't agree with Bortaz's worldview. This is hardly the first time Bortaz and his side-kick Thomas have gone out of their way to attack a fellow fan whose posts were *not* directed against them, but directed at some other group or idea. In this case, my initial posts were directed against the idea of censorship. The posts didn't call out Bortaz at all, but nonetheless he decided my sentiments were 'stupid' and deserved to be removed. Apparently, for some members, pushing back against Bortaz's belligerence is 'taking things too far', yadda yadda yadda. But those who have eyes can see what's up. |

WTH? I like this board and I've grown to like most of you folks. Some of the content crosses my personal line of good taste, but I tend to avoid the crap and the crappy posters. Proboards, right or wrong, is compelled to follow the law. We all follow laws and rules with which we don't always agree. Like it or not, they have the right to squelch free speech on their server (which is why private property ownership goes hand-in-hand with free speech, but that's a different story). Bortaz set up the board (for which I'm grateful) and moderates it because no one else wants to do it. Cut the guy some slack (even if he is a bit snarky and a grammar Nazi). I wish all of you would stay, but if you feel like following their rules is too burdensome, then maybe it's time to go.

I think Bortaz has done a fine job of moderating the board. I hope he realizes that a lot of the anger is directed toward Pro-boards, and/or the individual(s) who blew the whistle of what as probably just 2 or 3 posts that probably shouldn't have been made. This shit storm has everyone on edge. Hopefully, we. will return to normal in short order.

Everyone is fighting over something stupid. Yes we have to abide by their rules but ALL OF YOU WERE SO QUICK TO NOT REALIZE JUST ONE MORE STEP IN LOSING MORE RIGHTS
This is what it's really about. Who determines what is Hate Speech. The kid stomping his feet shouting NO NO NO was hate speech to me but will be allowed to stay posted as it OK with the NWO set of rules.

There is a new Astros board up on a site known for tolerating ALL speech, even conservative speech that may be critical of certain groups such as illegal immigrants, members of violent cults, drug cartels, traitors in government, etc. Apparently, "the law" is subject to interpretation and 8chan's interpretation is different from Proboards. As the Founding Fathers of our country noted, some laws are unjust and/or applied inappropriately. Patriots ought not feel bad about pushing back against these laws. To participate, you just need to type something in the Comment box and hit New Reply. Every 24 hours, the system will ask you to solve a "captcha" puzzle. If the puzzle is too hard to read (this often happens), you can hit Refresh to get a new puzzle. You *do not* need to give your real name or email address. Free speech comes with the responsibility that you carry for saying it. If we want to post on Proboards we post to their rules. Kind of the same thing as with Colin Kaepernick. I just want to know what is a violation. Those terms are kind of loose.
Now having said that I come here to talk about Astros Baseball. Doug and Marshall have good things to say about baseball so I hope they stay. The rest of the stuff that we post about is just something to do to kill a little time. There are plenty of other avenues to express that. I will take my own advise and will attempt to restrain myself from urinating on someone else's shoes and telling them it's raining.

I’d point out that you couldn’t advocate for the murder of all members of a religion on the old MLB forum, either. But that, apparently, wasn’t as burdensome as being told not to advocate for the murder of all members of a religion here on this forum.

I am more guilty than anyone else so this is probably my fault. I have a difficult time keeping my opinion of Islam to myself. Best thing is to probably not discuss things like this here. You're only "guilty" of loving your country, Coach. No shame in that. The patriots will win at the end of the day, we just got (a lot) more work to do. The guilty parties here are the sell-out government leaders who precipitated the cultural crisis we were discussing, and their lackeys in the media (both print and online) who are working to destroy the USA. They know their days are numbered, that is why they are lashing out with futile attempts at censorship. As soon as i read about this, I knew that i was the one the person complained about. I have never made a secret of my dislike and distrust for Muslims. I think either a member of this board who chastised me for labeling all Muslims due to the actions of a few is the one who reported my posts. I don't remember the name of the member,but, I recall exchanges I had with them about Islam. I doubt if this person has the guts to take credit for reporting my posts. I didn't threaten anyone and didn't deliver a "hate speech" as liberals like to whine about when someone disagrees with them. It is a shame when a coward doesn't have the guts to make complaints out in the open and whine behind your back. This could be Eddie returning to cry some more, but, I think it is one of our members.....they know who they are and that they don't have the guts to reveal themselves. i am sure I went too far in some of my anti-Muslim comments. But, we need to keep in mind that it wasn't Baptists, Methodists, or Catholics who flew planes into the WTC and the Pentagon. |

Yep, no one is safe from the PC police. And okay I'll play sh__ house lawyer, and try to help us work out where the line is in this process: Item 1 - Obscene/lewd/lascivious- (a) Curse words? Verbotten standard George Carlin's list? (b) Scantily clad women like in Sandbox? Where is that line crossed? Item 2- contains comments or images that are offensive, abusive, threatening, harassing or menacing (a) abusive? How do you pan players without zingers? Are the Gen Giles poems a violation? (b) Tiffs between posters..... It is a real fine line between a simple insult and what might be construed as harassing. That will be tough to interpret/ enforce. (c) The term "offensive" is so subjective. We really need some guidance on that one, or this site will be mayhem. Iten 3- Intolerance- (a) On surface, might look easy, but I'll give the example of where it is way out of whack. the confederate battle flag in my eyes is a symbol my ancestors particpation in the WBTS, but you have a huge contingent who view it in other racist terms. And that is bull sh__. Item 4- Government overthrow/ fraud- Coach gets pretty radical, but I seriously doubt he's planning a coup.  Just trying to get some footing going before it hits the fan. No coup being planned by me. Maxine Waters is the one trying to stir up folks to overthrow the government.  |
