One hit since Altuve’s first inning single.

Josh James has only allowed 1 hit through 4 innings. 7 K's.
Meanwhile Straw, Marisnick and White bunched some singles together to get the Grizz on the board.

Blackmon looks like he could make a decent career acting in pirate movies, if he wants, once his baseball career is over.

Pitchers duel tonight. Other than Bergman’s bomb our offense didn’t show up today.

I wonder what he does as a matter of course for the first and second innings he pitches. Maybe he would be a good reliever. Between him and Deetz we have some live arms down in Fresno to give someone a shot if the trades for a solid reliever are too steep. Oakland brought up some kids and they have done well. Why not us.

I don't disagree, but as long as he is getting on base at an elite level the rest will come. I bet he gets a few XBH this series in fact. I hope so because at this moment they have one player hitting at an elite level, and that’s not going to cut it. Like I said earlier today, I’m thinking we need another bat more so than we need another bullpen arm right now. Not saying we couldn’t use another good arm in the bullpen, but right now, considering how good our starting pitchers are, I am more concerned with the lack of offense we have all too often.

Back in spring training, while we were watching McCurry, Cionel, Framber, and Armenteros, it certainly seemed like the Astros would have plenty of arms to choose from to support the bullpen in the second half of the season. Josh James wasn't really on my radar at that time, but sure, make him a September call-up and see how he handles major league hitting.

Probably a good idea to get Sipp or Smith up. Try to save Rondon for the 9th.

My thoughts exactly. Seems to me that more often than not James is pretty much lights out for the first 3-4 innings in his starts.

I'd rather have a fresh arm in there to get Story and Parra.

Story’s out should be a sign to take Cole out.

I'd much rather have Sipp in there to face a lefty like Parra.

Get the hook, Cole is done. We let this guy off the hook early, stupid baserunning and a double play. He should of been stretched out early and now he is just killing us. Never should of got to this. Hitters let Cole down tonight. Still 6 outs to go but if we swing for the fences on everything not much will happen.

Two runs through 7 innings for our elite offense tonight. At Coors Field? Inexcusable.

This is the pattern we saw in the first half of July. Astros starters were generally solid through 90 pitches. But the clipboard calls for keeping the SP in for 100 pitches, and lots of damage would be done on pitches 91 to 105 or whatever.

With all these off days, the bullpen is super rested. No reason to try to squeeze an extra 15 unnecessary pitches out of Cole.
