the Rockies have been playing real well lately and the series played out kind of like I thought it would. Glad we got the first one.

I’m still annoyed about that reversed triple. Total momentum shifter. It did seem the Astros were battling two opponents (the Rockies AND the umpires). Bregs probably has a four-hit game next time out. The check swing call was BS, esp after the fan interference thing.

Hinch has done nothing to address the weakness shown by the offense for over a month. They have been out hit in most games for quite a while now. Just another 1 run loss and under 4 runs a game loss.

speaking of Texas they are in the process of blowing a 5-1 lead. 5-4 now with one out and one on in the ninth.

Hinch isn't the GM........It's Luhnow's job to get help for the offense. Hinch plays what he has to put on the field. When you manage ONE hit, you can expect to lose. Yuli hasn't had a clue in a week and tonight was horrible all the way around.. That idiot who reached over the wall in LF probably cost us at least one run. I was hoping to see somebody whipping his ass before he was thrown out of the stadium. Saw more evidence of why we need a catcher who has a clue as to how to swing the bat. Stassi stood and looked at three fastballs down the middle his last time at bat.......pathetic. We wasted a good pitching job by Morton and I don't fault McHugh for the home run. He won't be perfect every night and Hinch made the right move by leaving him in. I think Devenski is being sent a message that he needs to get his act together.

Astros keep squirreling away games like this and Oakland will catch them.

Now the rangers are coming up with three guys with below 200 batting averages. Looks like we lose a game to the As.

I’m going to say it:
Right now, the A’s are better than the Astros. The only thing we’ve got on them is the starting rotation.

I predicted the Rangers would blow the lead. They blew a 10-2 lead last night and lost 13-10. They have the worst pitching staff in baseball.......I am wondering what Blum meant when he said "there is a lot going on in Arlington".

I'm not so sure we win this game without Altuve. He's been off but he's still a late game threat. Yup!

One hit in nine innings at Coors Field is atrocious no matter what group of players step foot on that field. You still have Springer, Bregman, Gurriel, Gattis, Reddick, and Todd’s boy Stassi. There’s no excuse. They get a pass against Ottavino, but there’s no reason why these 5+ ERA pitchers should be whuppin that much backside.

That is the second time this year the Astros have been held to a single hit.
There was one game vs KCR where the Astros got two hits.
There have been four 3-hit games and two 4-hit games.
Only one of those games was a win; the Astros beat CWS (not saying much there) with only three hits on July 8.

Oakland closes within 6 games of the Astros in the loss column. If the Astros don’t develop some consistency on offense they could find themselves facing the Yankees in the wild card game this year. Oakland players are talented and hungry to win. Astros content and just going through the motions in a lot of games it seems. They need something to shake them up.

The starting pitching will always keep us in the game. We just need to score more runs on a consistent basis.

A relief pitcher would be nice, but we have several arms in the minor leagues to choose from who could be ready to help. I don’t think we have a consistent bat in the minors who is ready to help out the big club.

Conley would be a good addition.

This offense needs help. Actual “tired of it” mode starts now. Springer has been sputtering off and on for months, Altuve’s power is missing, Correa is a question mark, Gattis is back to being the usual Gattis, Reddick can’t get last year’s magic going, Marwin’s brain is on vacation, and we have minor leaguers at catcher. Bregman can’t do it all himself.
That is way too many hitters slumping concurrently for my taste. I almost wish Abreu was available at this point.
This team is 30 over .500, but that is largely due to laying waste to average or bad teams. They’re past the point of “let’s see if they can get it together”. They need the help now.

I agree the offense sputters too often. I don’t get a great feeling about the Astros repeating as WS champs.
